I always assumed he was talking about himself and his band. However, after reading several interviews it has become clear that "we" means only Prince. Gemini huh?

It's true, he says stuff like "We started using the Linn in 1980..."

I'm sure he'd say it refers to the NPG, but obviously they weren't around back then, and he did almost everything by himself back then.

Of all his talents, interviewing is not one of them.

I think it's his attempt to appear humble (well as humble as an ego-maniac can be).

I guess it kind of honours the fact that there is more to "Prince" than just Prince, there's the band and all the crew.

***this one can relate, often speaking from the me, myself & i of we there are some traditions where speaking/referring to yourself in the third person (this one) or the collective (we) reflects acknowledgement that your thoughts & actions impact more than just your physical being, that they resonate outward to the world & those around you....don't know if Prince comes from that mindset or not but the man is definately an industry unto himself: his choices have impacted lives & livelyhoods (jobs ya'll) a couple of decades now!!!
