The ticket prices in Europe (in Germany, especially) are highly priced. It stems from a certain tax musical acts have to pay for venues. Therefor, I forsee another perhaps-larger-than-recent-years-scale-concert-tour over here, as well as A and A, in the next year(s). The way Prince used Sony for the maketing and distrubition was a genius move. He was able to get the videos on MTV, the CD in the and people in the seats. This was also in the Daily Express (UK) on Thursday, where it said he earnt £35 million from the tour.
Hopefully that wont stop him touring in Europe, but please wait until later in the year!! | |

I also think since P did alot more press, "industry" shindigs, and the like, he (re)gained a larger following. Plus with the '80's so hot now, the 20th anniversary of Purple Rain (shoulda called it "The Purple Rain 2.0 Tour) gave the project a big push. Lots of different factors involed, but it's about time he got his due.  | |

I can name ten people that will fill up a major stadium not just a mid size venue. All of these guys are not only Indepemndents but they distribute their own music also and most people don't have any idea who they are. They are D.J.'s/producers. Richie Hawtin ( Plastikman) Derrick May Jeff Mills Tiesto (who produced the music for the last Olympics) Robert Hood Mike Banks ( founder of Underground resistance, An completely underground label that's been making profits for 20 plus years and won a major law suit against Sony music over copyright infriugment. These are the bigger names. I can name other that make a really good living without majors. | |
