Prince in the Natty Enquirer again... SINGER'S POSSE TURNS LOW-KEY MEAL INTO HIGH DRAMA
Prince Talk about OBNOXIOUS star bodyguards! Dubya himself would've been stunned by singer Prince's uptight security when he chowed at Cuvee, the trendy cafe on LA's Robertson Blvd., where A-list stars like Paris Hilton,Robert De Niro, Naomi Campbell, Debra Messing, etc. - even demi-celebs like me - drop in daily. First, the lovely Mrs. Prince (a.k.a. Manuela) drove up in a Mercedes with a bevy of twittering assistants. Moments later, a tricked-out SUV swooped up and out leaped two beef-o's in full Secret Service/drama queen mode - dark suits, shades, chattering nonstop on earphone walkie-talkies as . . . (drum roll) . . . His High-Heeled Highness, The Artist Formerly Known As an Unpronounceable Symbol, disembarked and swept inside like . . . well, like a Prince. Then the fun began! As Prince sat quietly noshing, the owner - a kindly, but famously feisty lady - was shocked to see Beef-o #1 ordering annoyed patio customers to move their tables back from the entrance, so they couldn't peek in at Pretty Princeling. Then Beef-o #2 went in her face to complain that a customer had . . . Horrors! . . . passed within 10 feet of Prince's table. The owner finally erupted when one bitchy lady-in-waiting barked at her: "Stop STARING at Prince!" Collaring Beef-o #1, she snapped: "How dare you harass my customers. We're very used to celebrities here, and they're never bothered by any of us or the press. But guess what - I can get on the phone and have Mike Walker here in five minutes" WHOA! The warning worked. She got an apology - and Prince even smiled and winked at her when he left two hours later. And what did he tip for their trouble? A Prince-ly $4, folks!

eh, sounds like those cats are still stuck back 20 years ago. didn't they say this same kinna stuff back then? it's all so typical, the bodyguards-said-"don't-look-at-prince" ploy...

I hate to say it, but this is the one thing about Prince I hate. As much as I love him, it hurts to know that if I was to stare at him or try to say "hello" a bodyguard of would yell at me, if not push me to the ground. I read in another topic once how one of you guys said you wished Prince would treat his fan the way Springsteen treats his ... I couldn't agree more.
Just like at the end of the R&R HOF when Prince strutted off the stage like he was some kind of badass. The gutair solo was mind-blowing, but where the hell is the respect for the memory of George Harrison. Not to mention the talent that was in that room that might - Prince should start to realize that although he is one of the greatest musicians on the planet, he truly lacks class. Or even worse, he lacks STYLE! 8 cents from a dime is 2 cents, and that's mine. Peace

This remindes me of a story my guy friend told me. He said about four years ago he was at South Beach (a Minneapolis nightclub) and was super drunk. He looks over and thought to himself "Jeez, that guy looks just like Prince". Then he was like "OMG that IS Prince!" He went up to his highness and got out the words "Excuse me-" then out of nowhere a secret service looking guy said "He doesn't want to be bothered"
Sometimes it is quiet comical how Prince is treated like a real Prince by his staff. I mean as much as I love and adore him come on he is a musician not the Prince of Moroco!

so let me get this straight: the mr and mrs nelsons drive up to a restaurant and disembark in such a fashion as to deliberately attract notice, then act annoyed when they succeeded in attracting attention to themselves? sounds complicated to me. i've always wondered why prince, who supposedly hates being noticed when he's out, does so much to attract attention to himself. you know he could easily avoid fanatics and unwanted stares if he ditched the SUV, white limo, bodyguards and all that red carpeting. acting like a normal person, driving a normal car while wearing no makeup or costumes (i mean seriously, how many of us would even recognize the dude if he wore none of his trademark flash?) - all these would guarantee prince the privacy he says he wants. but nooooo....

Very disappointing I must say....
Seems that Prince had some integrity for the last few years and Alas the OLD Prince is back...the One that is from HOllyweird and that does NOT surprise me....all bout the image and the superficial...Y did he even make an album bout the TRUTH then??? I guess some folks still have lots of work to do... What puzzles me the most is....preaching the Bible and yet can't live by it? Cause if it was the case Mr. Prince would LIVE like the apostle..this is a TRAVESTY to me... Must b the Entourage he's got in the last few years..that influences him. How Sad

Exactly what I was thinking. She ruined Saturday Night Live last night, she basically played herself in every skit - a spoiled bimbo. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I think that prince has style, but his skills with the "common" i guess people r truely screwed up. Although i did read in Tracks magazine this summer that after a show in Nashville he was hangin with fans. But i think that it's ridiculous that he doesn't want ppl to look at him, that sounds so 80s and u'd think he'd be past that phase. You guys are so funny!!! You not only reprint this crap you read in the National Enquirer, but you actually believe enough of it to comment! I think we have seen enough of Prince recently to know that this is probably not a true representation of his behavior! Additionally, I cannot believe that someone who admits to being drunk would actually think Prince or anyone else would want to be bothered with them! Yeah, I know, why am I wasting my time writing this???? Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

I read about people who wish they could meet Prince etc... but I have a feeling if I did, he or his handlers would be so damn rude, I would stop being a purple head. And I am just having too much fun getting deeper into Prince's music, persona. I think I like the man to remain mysterious because I have a feeling the real thing is not so cool. Although at the concert here in Detroit, a woman was chosen to go up on stage and on her way up, she fell flat on her azz, Prince tried to stop her from falling but it was too far and he would have got hurt if he continued to try to help her (she was a little on the heavy side) and after she fell he helped her up, brushed off some of the confetti off of her and asked her if she was alright then made a polite joke to lighten the moment. And I remember thinking that "prince is alright, not like they describe in the rag mags". So who knows. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Who knows if this happened or not? On the one hand, consider the source. On the other, Prince has shown on several occasions to behave like he thinks he really is a Prince, instead of being just some guy with a silly name. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Hmm...The return of His Royal Prickness? And here I thought he died around '99. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Well I for one like these stories, when the gutter press and tabloids care enough to print stories about you, that's when you know you're in the mainstream again. Just another example of how last year was a great year for Prince. Don't worry, I can't get pregnant - my ovaries are diseased......
