Chocolate Invasion

I have been trying to catch up on my Prince downloads. I finally bought and dowloaded CHOCOLATE INVASION, SLAUGHTERHOUSE AND XPECTATION.

I've only heard CHOCOLATE INVASION so far and I absolutely LOVE IT. If the next released album sounds a little bit like this or at least creative like this album then I'll be happy. Can anyone tell me if S and X are going to be as good or is it all down hill from there?

The Slaughterhouse is pretty much the same kinda stuff as the choc invasion mate. A lot of people dont like these 2, but i love em there fun, easy and funky! eek) X is totally instrumental, not really my bag but some beautiful music on there just the same.

Thanks for the info man. I'm going to be in heaven listening to both S and Choc. I can't wait. I like the way you described them "fun, easy and funky". That's all I really ask from a Prince album.

The only thing I hate about downloading from NPGMC is that I have to download the songs, record them and save as wav.file so that I can burn it on a regular CD. Then I have to turn it into an MP3 so that I can put it in my iPod and not waste too much space. It's exhausting.....

The more you listen to TCI, the more addictive it becomes! It's an awesome album with several quality tracks; The Dance, Underneath The Cream (my favorite) High, Judas Smile, SuperCute. Some of these , had they been released would have really rocked the airwaves.

So are both these albums commercial sounding then? Like "rave" album in 1999?

I love the Chocolate Invasion. The track that pulled me in was High which I know many hate but I love it. I also like Underneath the Cream and When I Lay My Hands.

no,actually, they sound like "new power soul" outtakes.
just alot of "Prince as Hip-Hopper" kinda vibe.

I like New Power Soul, but Chocolate Invasion is so much better. I'd say opposite of wally. NPS sounds like outtakes from TCI.

FINALLY, my people.

I was in complete pleasant shock when I heard CI. Really. U Make My Sun Shine, is only the most perfect song I've ever hear (I have a non-Prince fan friend who is f***ing loving it.)

Anyway, I posted several weeks ago about how splendid the album is and I got no love.

I'm glad you are and that awareness is increasing.

I too think that taking a mixture of songs from Musicology and CI would have lead to a much better album. I think Musicology is just fair.

I can't believe that CI is such an on-the-down-low release. I think it kinda slinked away after the disappointment of the New Power Soul album. It was kind of in the same vein, but 100x better.
Come here, babe.. yeah...

Trust me, if I would've run into your thread I would've responded and probably bought it sooner.

It was just so funny last night while I was downloading it. I SERIOUSLY felt like I was back in the 80's opening up my new Prince release, listening to it and really digging it. I haven't felt like that for a while.

100x better, IT IS!

Slaughterhouse is weak compared to TCI. "The Dance", "Supercute", "Vavoom", and "When I lay my hands on U" are great tracks. The Dance is one of my faves of the past 5 years. Its intoxicating.

Octavius

both Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterbouse are a zillion times better than Musicology. Had either of them been afforded the kind of promotion Musicology received, either album would have been a top seller on its own right (without any concert give-away fuzzy math).

I'm not that computer savy and the computer is lacking. Can you buy a CD from NPGMC?

Yeah, from the NPGMC store, but I think CI is only a virtual album. You have to pay to download the tracks and listen to them on your comp or burn 'em to a CDR.

UGH!! Sometimes I wish Prince would just accept CODs
cause some of his most loving fans don't have Credit cards

Dont get mad about the booting if you're gonna isolate some fans hmph!
If you will, so will I
