sampling

Does Prince allow other artist to sample his music or has anyone sampled a Prince song?

I thought 'hot thing' was sampled but I'm not sure. I only know I recognized parts of the song when I first heard it (about half a year ago wink): the phrase 'hot thing' and some guitar. That's all I can say about it neutral

Digital Underground's "Sex Packets" from 1990 (the album with "The Humpty Dance") sampled "She's Always In My Hair" on the title track.

There's a fight song for Terrell Owens that also samples "I Wanna Be Your Lover." Something like "Let's Go T.O." and most of the track is a loop of IWBYL.

Yeah, but this was years ago, Pray was the follow-up to U Can't Touch This wasn't it?

Prince clearly saw that it was a profitable move for Rick James to let Hammer use the sample (although I think Rick, initially, had a problem with it or took Hammer to court???)

Remember around this time Prince was sampling other people himself (on Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds & Pearls, prince ), and he was seeing the commercial potential of rap, so I think he was a little more open to a medium that is based on samples *cough* theft *cough ( wink )

Then when he went through the whole thing in the 90s about owning his masters and WB, I think he took another view that he didn't want his work sampled/covered (unless it was by some yawn-o-rama tart like Alicia Snooze-fest Keys).

I just figured out that 'He's Mine' by one-hit wonder Mokenstef was a sample of Do Me Baby.
