I really do love this album. My second fav album ever after Purple Rain. It makes you think, dance, cry, and smile. An early masterpiece. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Sorry to spoil your party,  but the **1999** album was officially released on October 27, 1982. However, the single for "Little Red Corvette" was released on February 9, 1983. I was alive at the time that is why the date sounded weird  to me.
Do not stop celebrating; it is one of Prince's dance/funk masterpieces.  | |

The only Prince album to have the same single released twice within a year -- "1999" was both the first and third release from this album. | |
