Has the Purple One ever invaded your dreams?
Did something that was just too funny, or totally unexpected?
(Like mow your lawn.)

One of my favorites involves a dinner party.

This was years ago, when Glam Slam LA was still open. A bunch of my closest Prince friends had gathered together to have dinner. (Hardcore fans - you KNOW what this means -- a menu with Prince-themed food and drink!) We had slipped a dinner invation to security to pass on to Prince. (yeah, right -- Mr. “Vegetarian-SoyMilk” is gonna show up!)

So, we’re sitting around in the living room, after dinner, enjoying coffee, wine, music, and conversation----when the doorbell rings. A friend opens the door, and you-know-who is standing there. He is wearing all black, a 3/4 length white, wool crepe coat, and sunglasses.

Silence.

Finally he says, “I knew this was the right house, ‘cause I could hear the music all the way to the street! Can I come in?”

He comes in and takes a seat, right in front of the picture window, out of the light. All we can see is the coat and the light reflecting off of his sunglasses.

More Silence.

Someone asks if he would like something to eat and he declinded. A “look” passed among all of us, like, “See? The brutha doesn’t eat enough!” He caught the look and said, “No, I DO eat food, I’m just not hungry right now.”

Oops. More Silence.

Finally we start to talk again, about non-threatening, unoffensive topics. Prince is not participating, merely sitting there listening. After about 20 minutes, a song comes on and we begin to argue over the lyrics, as to what Prince was trying to say, or what the song really means. This goes on for several minutes before we realize.....we have forgotten that he is sitting right there! We could actually turn to him and ask him what he meant!

Silence again as all eyes turn to Prince.

He again declines -- he would rather not tell us what was in his mind or what he was thinking, but the fact that we argue about what we hear is the highest praise to him because it means that we are LISTENING.

After about 20 minutes, he leaves. He does take a slice of tiramisu cheesecake with him.

So there it is -- one of my favorite Prince Dreams.

I have dreams that Im talking to Prince all the time...it's very clear and concise...I also have dreams that I am singing to him and he is criticizing me like he's my teacher...Hmm, what else? I think thats about it! All the others ones are naughty... j/k
