Did leaving WB have any affect on how much music he released??? Between 1978 and 1995 Prince released roughly one album a year. Ff you count b-sides etc. it is a bit more. From 1996 to now has Prince really released a substantial amount more music compared to his WB years??? I thought one of his main disagreements with WB (besides ownership of his masters) was that they limited his output.
What are your thoughts on this??? "New Power slide...."

I know this is a little off topic, but leaving WB i believe, has made prince make not so great albums, i believe that prince needs sum1 pushing prince 4 a great album, pushing him 4 a huge hit, all prince has now is himself!
But back to your topic, I feel that prince isn't making as much music as he as done, this year we have only had a few b-sides and other tracks, not so many! album wise tho prince has done pretty well, in that bringing out albums every year, just 2 keep us happy Keenmeister

I agree, in the WB time there was wayyyyy too much to release.... it seems a little less right now..
In the WB there was a tour EVERY YEAR!! (almost) now it is once in 3/4 years... SO BACK TO WB!!!! the beautiful ones, you always seem to loose

I know not everyone here will agree, but I'm not sure that TOTAL freedom is always the best thing for an artist . When Prince had some limitations put on him by WB (at least initially), it forced him to edit his ideas and put out his best work on each album. When he was a free-agent, a bit of self-indulgence began to creep in , and I think the albums suffered . #SOCIETYDEFINESU

I agree. Which makes it hard at times to appreciate his work - ie. Rave, New Power Soul. As great as Musicology, TRC, anmd Emancipation are... would they have benefited from a little criticism before release? _________________________________________

I'm not asking about his creativity. I am asking if his output of music is vastly more since he left WB. "New Power slide...."

I think it's a tad more difficult to compare output during the two eras than at first appears.
For a start, Prince's official release output was not simply restricted to those album, single and remix releases in his own name. He was also recording and releasing material via side projects and through protegee acts as well as giving songs to other artists for release. Taking all into account, it could be argued that his output has not significantly changed over the years, although there is an increase in output per year following the departure from WB. .
