I don't think so.... It is "Raspberry Beret" isn't it where it's totally different extended versions on the UK & US versions, isn't it? "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

What's the difference between the UK & US "Raspeberry Beret" 12"s then? Is it b-sides? I'm sure there is some kinda difference. I was asking because I wanted to work out which one to buy "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

Raspberry Beret:
12" UK W8929T A Side: Raspberry Beret (Extended Remix) 12" USA 0-20355 A Side: Raspberry Beret (New Mix) The UK and US 12"s have the same mix with different names. "Pop Life" has two different mixes: the 'Extended Version' (UK 12" W8858T) and the 'Fresh Dance Mix' (12" USA 0-20357) . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I can never remember the difference, I know the extended version is approx. 3 mins longer.
I prefer the Fresh Dance Mix I think, the one with the "la, la, la, la....." bit.

The UK 12" is basically the unedited 'full length' 9:07 version. The US 12" is a 6:16 remix made using parts of the full length version with additional recording and production from Sheila E. As Langebleu has already mentioned, the UK & US 12" versions of Raspberry Beret are actually the same, they're just named differently. [Edited 2/2/05 17:17pm]

Is there a better 12" version of a P song! (Theives In the temple comes close).... . [Edited 2/2/05 18:05pm] .

The UK 12" version of Pop Life is so much sweeter than the US version. But the 12" mix of Let's Go Crazy is the sheeeiiit. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The la la la bit-is that the Frere et Jaques (forgive my spelling) bit? "Prince don't hear Ravel when he wanna make love to his woman. He hears drums and shit." Miles Davis

yes it is, Frere Jacques that is... Frere Jacques is actually a sleeping song which to me makes it quite humorous, considering where in the mix it is placed, right at the moment it's starting to get a bit boring [Edited 2/3/05 0:59am]

US version of Raspberry Beret has a longer version of 'She's Always In My Hair' on it The UK version has 'Hello' if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron
