i have a recording of prince playing "what'd i say" ray charles song.
after first verse prince says:we are in e man,
after that somebody plays a lousy guitar solo.

after that solo prince takes guitar,
and he rips into short but great blues solo.

and prince says "i just wanted to check if it works."
so my question is:who was on the stage playing guitar with prince,
and why did prince say we are in e man?

he was tellin whoever it was to play in the key of e.

For some reason I can't stop laughing at the first post

picturing this little scenerio is pretty funny and I can't even explain it
