Prince References in MST3k

Since I'm a huge fan of both prince and of mystery science theater 3000, and both are from minnesota, I thought it would be interesting to bring up that mst3k has made reference to prince numerous times but since I got into prince long after I was into mst3k, I never realized it.

I'll start with off with the only one I know the exact episode of origin off the top of my head In "Prince of Space" the Japanese children call him just "prince" and tom servo says "please, call me the artist"

In the episode "Agent From HARM", which is the episode that came out right before Prince of Space, there was a character in the movie that looked just like Prince. This inspired Tom Servo, Crow, and Mike to sing several lines from Prince songs including The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Cream, I Would Die 4 U, and Little Red Corvette, etc. Great episode if you're a fan, because it's filled with them.

I also recall an episode where an army of people walk in a room and one of the robots announces that the New Power Generation has arrived.

Great show....

Hey hey! Great thread. I too am a great fan of both Prince and MST3k...in fact, I have "Space Mutiny" in my DVD player right now.

When I took a tour of Best Brains studios in 1998, there was an Emancipation tour cap in Beez's office and a really cool pencil drawing of Prince on one of the artist's (I believe it was Patrick Bratzeg's) ((spelling?, I'm sorry!))bulletin board.

Anyone have any favorite episodes?
I think mine are:
1: Riding With Death
2: Space Mutiny
3: Overdrawn at The Memory Bank

Anyways...thanks for the fun topic! Pray for syndication or better yet, rebirth! It happened for Family Guy.

It would be nice if they were reborn somehow, although I think it would be really hard to bring them all back together. For one thing, I would want them to include frank, trace beaulieu, and joel if they could, and I doubt that could happen. Perhaps a follow-up series ala star trek: the next generation

Heiress

Movie line: "It's vanity!"

Heckler's response: "Or Apollonia!"

I can't remember which film that was. I've been living in France for 9 years, and it's probably been that long since I've seen the MST3K.

Any way to see it over the internet?

woot! MST3K freak over here as well!

When a child in a loud purple shirt appears in the background during the short "The Home Economics Story":
Tom Servo: "Hey Look, it's Prince! Back when his royal badness was a skinny white kid!"

Joel: "That's a reach, buddy."

Also, in the short "Mr. B Natural" when the credits read "CONN LTD."
Joel: "CONN LDT and The New Power Generation!"
