why would you suddenly change your opinion of something just because Prince thought it's wrong. Who cares what he thinks, live your own life!

IT WASNT BECAUSE OF WHAT HE SAID , BUT IT WAS THE FACT THAT IT WAS SAID IN THE BIBLE AND I HAD NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE. HE HAD MADE ME CHALLANGE MY OWN MIND.

Agreed that the symbol and YES are overdone (although I like the flame symbol above).
But.... If you really want to be individual..... Don't get one. Tattoos are so 90s. The huge bsuiness growth area now is tattoo removal. .

Prince himself has an ear pierced, and as far as I know, does still wear a stud occasionally. How do you suppose he squares that with what is taught about body modification by certain religions? For that matter, what about the multitudes of Christian women with pierced ears? That's no different than getting a tattoo or other body piercing. What purpose could it serve to condemn a tattoo or nose ring when you regularly wear diamond studs, other than to enhance a sense of entitlement or self-righteousness? I have Prince's face tattooed on my hip, It is his face on the emancipation cd. I love it and show it to anyone who wants to see. The guy did a great job, however, I told Prince about this at a concert in detroit. He then proceded to call me over to him so he could show me something. Of course I about passed out. If anyone in this site was there, they would remember this night in detail. He opened his book of jehova and proceded so show me a verse that says, thou shall not tattoo pierce or cut ones body ect.... I asked him what book that he was reading from and he gave it too me to keep. What an extrodinary moment, because last time I knew he had never givin anything to anyone. To make a long story short, I had been planning to get more tattoos, but after that night I decided from what I had read that ,I should not get anymore. I still to this day want more, but I feel that I am showing great restraint on this matter and it makes me feel good and strong to know that I might be taking a great step in pleasing my God. Anyway this may sound corny to you but, I thought I would share this story. Ps, I will take a pic of it tonight and show you the tattoo, but I HAVE TO LEARN how to use my new camera. Hold on a minute. Prince has his ear pierced, and as far as I know, he still wears a stud in it from time to time. Hypocrite. thank you.

I have no problem with his religion -Prince can believe whatever he wants to believe. The problem is that he doesn't always practice what he preaches. Why tell fans not to tattoo themselves if he's got an ear pierced? It's the same thing. [Edited 2/13/05 17:35pm] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

No it doesn't say that in the bible. “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:28 (The original Hebrew text reads “k’thoveth qa’aqa”, or “writing that is stuck in”, usually used to refer to a form of modification closest to ink rubbing — a pagan funerary rite at the time, very different from modern tattooing.) Taken in context, this refers directly to memorial rites. It doesn't say "you may not tattoo your body". There are many very devout christian societies in the world that embrace tattooing wholeheartedly, such as the Amharic people of Ethiopia. If you wish to educate yourself on such subjects, I suggest doing some research, and not rely on one group's interpretation of one passage, which is taken completely out of context ("for the dead"). Anyone who would like to read a little more... http://www.bmezine.com/ne...31102.html If you still feel the same way, fine. I would much prefer you to base that stance on educated research rather than a statement from a notoriously whimsical entertainer. Tattooing the symbol on yourself may fall into the false idol category, but that of course depends on your own definition of idolatry, doesn't it? (Oh, btw, what about the symbol tattoo so prominently displayed in the Emancipation words and pictures book? Tattooing AND idolatry - God must be pissed at Prince for that one) All orgnotes and emails requesting trades or how to acquire bootleggage will be ignored. - The ThreadKiller -

I don't think I'd get a tattoo of someone still ALIVE. To get a Jimi Hendrix or Kurt Cobain tattoo would be one thing, because they lived admirable lives.
But can you imagine if someone got an O.J. Simpson or Ray Lewis tattoo BEFORE they killed all those people. They'd be pretty pissed off now! lol Or a Michael Jackson tattoo. (IF he is found guilty of molestation charges, which I don't think he is guilty...) My point is... Don't get a tattoo of someone who is still alive, because they could end up doing something in the future that would make you want to scratch that tattoo off! [Edited 3/21/05 20:30pm]
