ANYTHING BUT THAT DAMNED SYMBOL. seriously. i would love for once, just once, to see a prince-related tattoo that isn't a variant of either the or symbols.
i'm startin to feel as if i'm the only person 'round here who has prince tats that actually aren't the typical ones most fans seem to get.

Any suggestions? If possible with pics please.... I suggest not getting a Prince tattoo at all. Design something yourself that represents you and only you. That's what I did.

I've noticed over the past couple of years that everyone seems to have tattoos. So many of them look like complete junk. You can't tell what it is and the colors are awful. If I see one more woman with barbed wire around her arm or some kind of funky design on her lower back, I think I'll puke. I have a tattoo in a very inconspicuous location and it's a bird which represents freedom and beauty. Unfortunately, many people get tattoos and I swear they don't know what they really mean or what they really stand for. When I was 18 I might've been talked into getting a Prince or symbol tattoo, but thank god I wasn't because I would hate to have that on my body today. Tattoos can be beautiful, but they can also be damn ugly and meaningless too. Think before you do it. It's there for life unless you want to go through the very painful and time-consuming laser removal.

My suggestion is that you decide which is your fave piece of a prince song, and have the musical notes of that fave piece as a tattoo, it could circle around your leg or arm or whatever!

I'm glad this topic came up. I've been toying with idea of getting a tat of the opening chords of "Anna Stesia" on my neck. Why the neck you ask? Well a couple of years back, I had an operation that left an ugly "stab wound" there. I love the song, have the sheet music, blahblahblah....What do ya'll think?

My tattoo is Paisely Park. Around the World in a Day was my first Prince album and that song had a profound effect on my soul. "be glad that you are free, many a man is not"

That's what I wanted but my man didn't like that idea much.. He was like "I have to look at that while we're.. you know...?!" A touch of the green eyed monster methinks "There comes a road in every man's journey that he's afraid to walk on his own.
I'm here to tell you, I'm at that road. And I would rather walk it with you than walk it alone".

The symbol one is ok. I got one on my back. It was my first one. Then i got the Sign O the Times VHS cover on my calf its pretty big. My latest one is on my arm. It the picture of Prince on the Diamonds and Pearls Tour Book where he has a swirl of hair coming down his forehead and he is holding pearls up to his face. Its pretty tight.
Im thinking of my next one but i don't know. Peace and Love!

Getting a Prince-related tattoo is WAY too fammish. Gets something that relates to you and your own life, not something that relates to a total stranger who'se work you happen to enjoy. I happen to love tattoos, but for the life of me, I'll never understand why so many people insist on getting certain designs because they're trendy. A trendy haircut or wardrobe I can understand b/c they're not permanent, but a trendy tattoo? And how hard can it possibly be to do a little research and go to a quality parlour, so you can get a tattoo that doesn't looks like you scratched it on yourself? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I have the symbol on my right arm
i got it done a couple of weeks after the Symbol album came out. That was cool but then when he changed his name to i stopped showing it off. Well,
I have Prince's face tattooed on my hip, It is his face on the emancipation cd. I love it and show it to anyone who wants to see. The guy did a great job, however, I told Prince about this at a concert in detroit. He then proceded to call me over to him so he could show me something. Of course I about passed out. If anyone in this site was there, they would remember this night in detail. He opened his book of jehova and proceded so show me a verse that says, thou shall not tattoo pierce or cut ones body ect.... I asked him what book that he was reading from and he gave it too me to keep. What an extrodinary moment, because last time I knew he had never givin anything to anyone. To make a long story short, I had been planning to get more tattoos, but after that night I decided from what I had read that ,I should not get anymore. I still to this day want more, but I feel that I am showing great restraint on this matter and it makes me feel good and strong to know that I might be taking a great step in pleasing my God. Anyway this may sound corny to you but, I thought I would share this story. Ps, I will take a pic of it tonight and show you the tattoo, but I HAVE TO LEARN how to use my new camera.

Guess I'm one of those fans that got the "typical" Prince tattoo. I got the symbol on my back about 2 years ago. It was my first tattoo ever and I wanted to get something that meant alot to me.
Here is a picture of my tattoo: http://chicago.tribe.net/...ws&r=10659 And then I got this "younger sister" one on the inside of my left wrist: http://japanese.about.com/blkod226.htm My "older sister" got her symbol in the same place. Nice, But didn't that hurt on the back of your neck? You know what... to be really honest, the Kanji one on the inside of my left wrist really hurt!! Even though it's only an inch in height and took less than 5 minutes to do, it was straight veins and bone underneath... OUCH!! The one on my back wasn't bad at all. It hurt the most when he did the circle of the top, but overall, it hurt less than the one on my wrist. "There is no such thing as an ugly woman... just a lazy one." ~ Unknown

Hold on a minute. Prince has his ear pierced, and as far as I know, he still wears a stud in it from time to time. Hypocrite. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
