My favourite Prince associates have always been:

The Time (get all four of their albums: 'The Time', 'What Time Is It', 'Ice Cream Castle' & 'Pandemonium)

Sheila E. ( get 'The Glamorous Life' CD)

The Family.

Jill Jones ( I cannot stress this enough: get this album!)

Mavis Staples: 'Time Waits For No One'

That should get you off to a good start.

You must get Sheila E.'s "Glamorous Life" and "Romance 1600" albums...they're the ones with the most "Prince" in them. Really good stuff. If you get hooked on the divine miss E, then get "Sex Cymbal" - no Prince but great music.

Also - "Time Waits For No One" by Mavis Staples is a good one, as well as "Martika's Kitchen" by Martika. If you can find it, also get "Burnin'" by Patti Labelle...he did "I Hear Your Voice" on there which is one of the BEST songs he's ever done.

I've personally been looking to get The Family's album just to hear their version of Nothing Compares 2 U, but can't find it.

As for Tina Turner...I dont know about a collabo..but she did a live version of "Let's Pretend We're Married"....It's the b-side to one of the PRIVATE DANCER singles.....(I think it's "Lets Stay Together"???)

You're all forgetting Candy. Wow can that girl play the sax.

On her 2. album was a prince penned number called Sunday Afternoon. Get the album, it's worth the while.

She did the soundtrack for Lily Was Here with Dave Stewart (of the Eurythmics) That is one of the best instrumental numbers ever recorded. At least I think it's better than Alexa De Paris and the other instr. P. numbers.

I agree that Giotto knows a lot about the related artist, but i think that the ones of us aged over 30 that have grown up with the man (I've been a fan since 1983) have collected all that we could get our hans on i the past years.

I haven't been able to find the Kenny Rogers album yet. Is the P.-song any good ?
I'll have another glass of you.
this time on the rocks.

It's all about ANI DIFRANCO....she's a talented, poetic artist with a catalog that is just as impressive as Prince's. With an album released almost every year (three in one year at one point) she's definately worth checking out. Maceo is all over her newer songs. Prince sang with her on her "To The Teeth" album and she's covered When Doves Cry in concert.....check her out. Not bad for a girl who's always been on her own record label that she started from scratch. I think that what Prince admires most about her. I admire her lyrics personally.
