I always thought the siren noise was supposed to be a heart monitor, which fails at the end (meaning he's heartbroken).

I think it's used very cleverly.

I LOVE this song....and all the background noises that come with it. One of my all time favs.

I hate most all sound effects he's used, unless it's the weather (Somebody's Somebody live mix) or the plane (Super Cute)...

The clock in "Let's Have a Baby" drives me nuts, it's such a perfect song otherwise

Some of the sound effects Prince uses have a tendancy to cheapen the songs he uses them in but I love the sonic references used in Wasted Kisses.It's the type of dramatic flavouring that is used to powerful effect.Same with the sound effects on The Truth and Don't Play me...I feel like im listening to a foreign film or "audio paintings"...does that make sense>???

What a horrible insinuation - It is such a bitter song - only a monster would say that about a your baby!!!

I like the airplane noises in Automatic. They sound like a dentist's drill coming at you.

the ambulance symbolizes the first signs of trouble in the relationship, and that one is even called to the "scene" shows they tried to save it

the heart rate monitor symbolizes their relationship hangin on a thread...its barely there

and then when it stops...well thats obvious.

Well, a lot of others thought that too at first. So you're not alone - the same goes for "Until U'R In My Arms Again", altough it's really just a sappy love ballad. People were just reading too much into the lyrics of the album because of the time period it was released. NPS is most likely his least personal album when it comes down to the lyrics (and music as well), I doubt "Wasted Kisses" would be about Mayte either.
