Love Song Ok, I was revisiting "Love Song" by Prince and Madonna and almost forgot how much I loved this song. It's fantastic. Just curious if the orgers think that this could have been successful if it was released as a single.

I think it was the first Prince song I was every really disappointed with -- seriously. ...but maybe that's just me?

It kind of sounds like a demo or first draft of something that might have been placed on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic or Emancipation.

I like the song, always did.. What I don't like is that Madonna and Prince never joined eachother in the studio to record this one....
I like the combination of these 2 artists!! the beautiful ones, you always seem to loose

I love it.
After Lovesexy, I was hoping that his next album would be more like the arrangements on this track. Sparse and cool abstract funk.

While it's not my favorite song by either artist (by a long shot, actually), I think it's pretty enjoyable. I like the mechanical groove, I like the French bits that Madonna says, I like the way their voices sound together too. Nice bitter little track:
"Don't try to tell me what all your enemies taught you" "Embrasse moi Pour la dernière fois" I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Correct! i was hoping the same that time...he had a bunch of cool songs in that style; 101 and Cool Love with Sheana Easton for instance..they were part of the same style of songs...to bad never a coherent album came out with this kind of songs...Prince stayed to conservative then....with Batman, Grafitti Bridge...too bad..

Uptown's 'The Vault' reports that, contrary to the previously held belief that the song was purely the result of the two of them passing a tape back and forth, Madonna stated in an interview in 2001 that the song originated from a studio session involving both of them together (Madonna on keyboards and Prince on drums). It was only after this that the tape apparently started being sent back and forth for further work. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I'm one of the few that really love this song. I think it's great in its minimalism. I especially like the background Prince harmonization on "losing your mind" That part drives me nuts.

You're right! '101' has that sound too. There's a dream-like quality to both songs. Although more manic, I think that 'Something In The Water' has the same vibe too. Hmmm... 'I Wonder U' does too. I feel a compilation coming on. More suggestions are welcome.

BinaryJustin...I did one of those compilations many years ago. You want to know what goes good with it (from memory not necessarily in this order) Love Song, I Wonder U, If I Luve U 2Nite (Mica Paris version), Noon Rendezvous, Violet Blue, The Balld of Dorothy Parker, And God Created Woman, Love Thy Will Be Done (Prince Mix), The Question of U, Oooh, This I Need, I Hear Your Voice, Joy In Repetition, 101 (Uptown Mix), Whispering Dandelions, In A Spanish Villa...Rework the order, That may help you out.
