When Doves Cry - help please! When Doves Cry - help please!
Hi everyone! Tonight heard the most deliciously yummy cover version of "When Doves Cry" by a female singer don't know. The song starts out as slow gentle acapella caressed with a childrens choir and cathedral echo. Then it bounces into a dance club groove of "How can u leave me standing ...". Towards the end there is the passionate refrain of: "You know that they cry ...You know that they cry ...You know that they cry ...." as drum beats feverishly thump. Would any wise and kind orgie happen to know who the singer might be? Does Prince have to give permission for someone to cover his songs, or does Warner Bros have the final say about things like this? heard that Prince doesn't like others to do his songs and wants them to be creative with their own artistry and musicianship. thought this is sort of odd though, since for a while he has covered many songs. Now that am thinking on this -- what ever happened to the "sample collection" that was to be released years ago? remember seeing a full page promo for it on love4oneanother dot com. (The "When Doves Cry" Bare Naked Ladies live acoustic version is also surprisingly good too!) Thanks a million! Hikaru "All of me give 2 thee down at your feet ...
The reassurance in your rhythm speaks 2 me." -------------------------------------------------------- "I wanna hold U, wrap U up in lace. And I wanna kiss U, kiss U all over your face."

It's Quindon Tarver (a boy, as far as I know) and this version is featured on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack volume 2. Stop the Prince Apologists ™

The description does sound like Quindon Tarver's version. It's purdy. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
