BORN UNDER A PURPLE SKY (Volume 1)

1. Endorphinmachine (album version as I have yet to find a good enough quality copy of the unreleased version)
2. Honky Tonk Women (undertaker)
3. Bambi (undertaker)
4. Zannalee - interlude (undertaker)
5. Peach
6. One of US
7. I Like It There (edit)
8. The Cross
9. Let's Go Crazy (Rave 2000)
10. She's Always In My Hair (Rave 2000)
11. U Got The Look (Rave 2000)
12. Whole Lotta Love (Aladdin)
13. So Far, So Pleased
14. Chaos & Disorder (edit)
15. When U Were Mine (NPG Ahdio version - edit)
16. The Same December (edit)
17. Dolphin
18. Da Bang
19. Habibi
20. Purple Rain (Revolution Live)

That's one I've put together to fit on one CD. If you want the cover, I can email it to you. I'm putting together a second volume at the moment (and for all you thinking I left loads of good stuff out - I was holding back a little for Vol. 2).

I was concentrating on straight ahead rock rather than the blues stuff or pop/soul stuff with great solos in them, but may add some bluesy stuff to volume 2 (eg a version of The Ride)

Tell me about that version of Erotic City. I've never heard a guitar-oriented, rocky version of it.

Great choice! The 12" mix is often overlooked, but a wonderful guitar showcase.

The War could be edited to fit on a rock mix CD-R, too.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It's from a VHS Video practice of Prince & The Revolution at their Practice Space. It is possibly the best guitar playing by Prince. He just goes into a zone & really I think he didnt realise he was jammin' like this! The funny part after they play that song, they all act like it wasn't a big deal. eek

The Undertaker was an album Prince recorded around 93 I believe, to be given away with a guitar mag. Warners blocked it, but some CD copies are in existence (and very expensive). It's just P on guitar, with Michael B and Sonny T, peforming live at Paisley Park and rocking out in front of a camera. Some people think it's proof that P is a great rock guitarist, others aren't so sure.

The VHS was officially released (but I think it was fairly limited) in Europe with a very poor storyline tacked onto the beginning of it. Org note me for more info.

What other songs on there do you want to know about?

Because some of us LOVE his guitar solos. You think of Bon Jovi when you think of great guitar solos? shrug How sad for you then. Not EVERYTHING has to be funky to be good you know.

There's great guitar playing in those songs but I was thinking more along the lines of a CD themed on Prince's rockier stuff. Prince's funk rhythm guitar playing is unbelievable - but that's for another CD.

That version is amazing. Do a video search for it on Kazaa and it should come up.
