If you have a card, just order it on amazon.ca It ends up being about 25 US bucks....not too shabby.

I just ordered mine | |

Any Prince fan in the UK should feel confident about ordering this rather desirable item from Amazon.ca: it works out under the limit for duty so even with DHL 7-14 day delivery it cost just over £13 in total.
I had mine on Jan 15th and it really is a noble replacement to a worn out VHS Occasional out of sync moments between the sound and image (which may even be on the original film ?!), but a very decent copy overall with all the energy and sound of the film intact.

"Sign 'O' The Times" is the ultimate Prince experience. If in 1000 years you wanted to show somebody what Prince was all about you could show them this movie and you would capture damn near every thing about Prince that there is. It sums him up better than anything else before or after-even "Purple Rain" the movie. All sides of Prince are shown in this movie and everyone should go to amazon.ca right now and order this DVD. [Edited 1/27/05 10:50am] I completely 100% agree. I rarely rewatch movies. This is one that goes on my short list (with, oddly enough, Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow...for which I have an irrational love) of ones I'll watch at least once a year. I love everything about it, and Forever in My Life is my favorite concert moment ever. [Edited 1/27/05 13:19pm]

is there any special features in that dvd? Peace & B Wild!!!

Okay, look people. DVD's are a completely unnecessary extravagance - in fact, the only reason I buy 'em is for the extra features. So if a DVD has no extras, why would I buy it when I have the video copy already?

Because videocassettes deteriorate at an alarmingly fast rate. In a few years, the SOTT VHS will look like crap.

When converted to US dollars the total is $22.82. Perhaps my reciept shows my total in US dollars after all. Alternatively, the online currency converter I used may be inaccurate. I guess i could check my credit card bill. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Are you serious??? The picture quality and sound quality of even the most bare bones DVD easily trounces a souped up VHS. "New Power slide...."

It's amazing. The film transfer is clean and clear, free of any blemishes. Widescreen is ehanced for 16x9 TV's. The dolby digital 5.1 is powerful and well balanced through out the film. The music is clear and uses the surround speakers (front, center, rear) actively. Prince guitar track is awesome, utilizing all of the speakers. The background vocals and crowd noise mainly reside within the rear surrounds. The sound has been remastered and is beyond any of my expections. The guitar solo during I Could Never Take the Place of your Man is truly wonderful and is almost like I have never heard it before. The soundtrack really shines during the title track. I knew it was going to be good as the giutar kicks in as Prince and Cat run to the stage. The remastering process Demonstrates its excellence thoughout the film. It is outstanding during Housequake and Hot Thing , not to mention Forever in My Life. The video transfer is stunning. It is crystal clear. The colors are sharp and the contrast is perfect. The widescreen is really effective and stunningly vivid, the wide shots are wonderful. It is like watching a different film. The team that remastered the film for DVD must be real fans because they seemed to have taken great care in preparing this transfer. This is how a DVD transfer should be done. There are no extras or bonus features on the disc. This DVD is outstanding, you will throw away your VHS copy if you buy it. It is avaliable here www.amazon.ca if you want further details. [Edited 1/27/05 10:51am] I agree with you 100%. My only complaint is "U Got The Look"; is it just me or does it look VERY washed-out? It is noticeably grainy for some reason (I'm watching it on a 57" widescreen TV). The rest of the film looks fantastic given its age...it ends up making "U Got The Look" out of place in my opinion.
