Undertaker CD help Hi, I have the official Undertaker cd, but it has the sticky coating that makes it unplayable. Does anyone out there know how to remove it so I can listen to this masterpiece in perfect quality?
Thanks for any help! | |

There are ways to polish the discs, but it will take a lot of time and most of them end up getting damaged anyway. which will cause the laser to skip. I was lucky to get playable one, but that's pretty rare.
So my advice is to find someone (not me) who can make you a copy and just play the CD-R. There have been some bootleg release that had perfect copies of this performance on it. Not too long ago there has also been someone who posted a copy of his disc to alt.binaries.multimedia.prince in perfect quality, so my guess is that it shouldn't be to hard to find someone that has it.

According to Uptown, the "Undertaker" CD was printed in 1993 by Prince in around 800 copies (as a kind of present for friends to celebrate his birthday).
WEA didn't liked the idea and forced P. to destroy all CDs. The destroying process was to damage the playable side covering it with the sticky coating. I have it and it is unplayable... but I never wanted to try to make it playable again (you know, it's just another items with his particular history). As JoeyCoco said it's available in some bootleg in perfect quality (I found it in the "Past, Present and Future" of Sabotage.)

The Undertaker is actually an official release on laserdisc that is an artsy-performance "movie". It's basically a performance by Prince, Sonny T, and Michael Bland (The Power Trio) that was done in a single take.
The audio version was reportedly going to be used in Guitar World magazine as a free give-away to show off Prince's guitar abilities, but Warner Bros pulled the plug. Instead, the movie has seen the light of day in Japan as a laserdisc. It's actually not that hard to find a VHS copy of it. I was lucky enough to find on of the "official" CDs at a record show that included a fold out movie poster! The version of Honky Tonk Woman is still one of my favorite covers Price has done over the years!! Peace N Luv, Chris G.

01. The Ride 10:54 02. Poor Goo 04:24 03. Honkey Tonk Woman 03:01 04. Bambi 04:03 05. Zanalee 00:44 06. The Undertaker 09:45 07. Dolphin 03:42 As you can see, most of the songs have been released by now. The Ride : was on crystal ball. But this version is much cooler, with more guitar solo's. Poor Goo : was released on NPGMC Let's not forget that the NPGMC releases, taken from the video are not identical to the ones on the CD. Very similar, but not exactly the same.
