Grammys "surprise": Prince!

CBS just played a Grammys commercial that said "and a surprise" and they showed Prince performing "Lets Go Crazy". The Grammys will be on CBS February 13th Sunday.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Yeah, the Grammy's are full of surprises. Like Queen Latifa hosting them, and no more surprised when she won best rap song for "U.N.I.T.Y" over Craig Mack's "Flavor In Your Ear" ten years ago.

Whatever the surprise is, hopefully it will be better than that god awful "tribute" (if u call it that) of The Beatles from last year neutral

As long as it's not another duet with Miss Bootylicious I'm cool with it. But I actually think the suprise will be that he wins over that Over Exposed Played Out Boy Wonder, Usher!

I think mostly they're just trying to remind you of last year's surprise. That said, I think there's a good chance we'll see him in some capacity.

Maybe this is where the "Usher duet" rumor has its roots.

I know no one wants to admit it, but His performance with Miss Beyonce last year helped him pull off the best tour of the year, it gave him credibility to the new Hip hop generation, when they heard beyonce talking about prince and Alisha talking about him, and etc. People wanted to know about him again. so you can talk trash about miss Booty but miss Thang helped put him out there again. It kind of reminds me of Aerosmith, when no one was feeling them and then RUN DMC had them in their walk this way video, then aerosmith was the Shitnik again. Thank you to Miss Beyonce because I got to see my man 4 times last year. And if it had not been for you and others as well we may not have had the opportunity.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

He pulled off a big tour due to promotion and also threatening to never perform the hits again. As far as gaining credibility with the new hip hop generation, that's exactly what I DON'T want. Prince is the only one left keeping the funk alive and he needs to never sell out to today's tired music. If the younger generation likes his music, that's fine. but if they don't, who cares. They have plenty of tired music out there already without Prince selling out to their music. He needed to be bitch slapped for performing with Beyonce.

if Prince does a duet with Usher, that will be the nail in the purple coffin and therefore,i will be forced to sell my entire collection.
this is not a new thought by the way,i have had a bad feeling since around 1989 that Prince had pretty much emptied his cannon....

it's taken you SIXTEEN years to decide whether prince has anything left in his cannon?! how many fucking albums has he released for you to decide about that?? 15 or something?! fuck, closer to 18??

come on! him doing a duet with usher is no worse than eve or the peeps on rave, in that, surely the whole rave era is worse than the current one.

Exactly. Too many people round here are living in some kind of dream world if they think Prince is going to spark some sort of "real music" rennaissance simply by releasing "News - The Next Edition." Prince is an artist (thank god), but he also needs to make money, and to make money as an artist means exposure and playing the game.

and u know what? ur [b][i]ABSOLUTELY right. b/c i thought that their grammy performance together was really cool. And i got to see Prince on TV for the first time, really in my life. u know, since he hadn't really been gettin a lot of video play. and i was thrilled. It did help him get exposed to younger people and the hip hop generation. and Aerosmith did the right thing with RUN DMC. that helped them totally. So if Prince wants to do it, then that's his choice. i'm just glad i got to see it. biggrin

hmmm That's a thought. However, I don't know if I can stomach an Usher and Prince duet . Hell, its too painful. Shit, I rather see him with Beyonce's tired ass.

You are a trip and a half, (well maybe a trip and a quarter) I didn't say prince sold out by doing hip hop music, I said it introduced him to the hip hop generation, Musicology is called that because school is in session. He is pushing real music for real music lovers and the new generation has a lot to learn, and Do you think Prince cares what you want or don't want, that was his problem with Warner/bros. He does what he wants when he wants to do it. That is called freedom, not giving in to his so called fans, (sorry) can't use that word here, If you had your way Prince would do shows for only a few of his supporters, well music is suppose to reach the masses, and to bitch slap him for doing a gig with Beyonce, come on man, get real, Beyonce must be something if he choose to do it with her, he doesn't perform mith pretenders. Its funny how she validated him with her followers, but Prince's followers only rag him for anything he does with the new generation, Its that attitude that alienated him in the first place. Obviously he has learned something alone the way, maybe its time that you do to. Peace anyway, and stop wanting to bitch slap people.

Performing with someone that is definately not worthy of performing with him simply to gain recognition with a younger crowd would definately be selling out. In the past, with the exception of "Rave", most people he has performed with have been unknowns that he discovered. That's not trying to get current public acceptance.

As far as Prince not caring about what I like, well, he doesn't care about what you like either. But, he contridicts himself though, because performing with someone as tired as Beyonce proves that he cares about what someone likes and that would be trying to gain acceptance from the younger crowd, which would be selling out because most of them were not into him to begin with. Like I said before, if they like him because they like what he's doing on his own, without selling out, that's fine. But if they don't like it, then who needs them? They already control the whole music scene these days and we don't need to see a rare exception like Prince, watered down with their junk.

That performance was a total joke.

Snap

I just hope he doesn't give anyone the tongue (especially not usher) -- now that'd be selling out. If people really meant it, they'd be getting together after the show and having an orgy -- not just doing it for tv, y'know?

tongue in cheek, y'all -- yeah, keep it there (...i just can't believe all the things people say...)
