Wow! You must be a really new fan - good to see!

On most of Prince's albums, he produces, arranges, composers and plays all the instruments. It has always been something Prince has done, even on his first album in 1978! Some of his other albums feature collaborations with his bands (The Revolution or The New Power Generation), but generally Prince is responsible for everything - that's why we love him so much! cool

Snap

I believe 1996 (Emancipation) was the first time Prince started including cover songs on his albums. Before that time, there's a handful of songs where Prince took ideas from Andre Cymone, Morris Day, Dez Dickerson, Dr. Matt Fink, and his own father John L. Nelson and made the songs his own. He also wrote several songs with Wendy & Lisa, rarely giving credit. And one with Carol Davis, I believe. Probably a few others I forgot (like Levi Seacer, Chris Moon, Sheena Easton, Madonna, etc). But as far as I know, no one has ever produced or arranged any Prince composition/performance but himself. He also wrote and produced most of the songs on albums by The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Sheila E., Jill Jones, Madhouse, Mavis Staples (Paisley Park records), and many others.
