I've seen it numerous times, on sitcoms and movies and such. You'll hear someone do a play on the lyrics of "1999"

"I'm gonna party like it's 1939"

or

"they partied like it was 1899"

lol

Do you actually hear people on their cell phones in the supermarket saying "Yeah, girl, tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999?" lol

He's right though. I always hear ppl playing off it without even realizing with it when they say stuff like "We're gonna party like it's (insert current year here)". It's kinda cool.

I dunno. 'We're gonna party like it's 2005' sounds kinda dumb to me.

Oh I didn't mean it's cool when ppl do it, only that it's cool Prince has made that kind of impact on pop culture.

The Simpsons did it, "We're going to party like 'twas 1799"

Futurama did "We're gonna party like it's 1999!.....again."

When John Howard won the election in Australia recently a latenight show said he was "going to party like it's 1959"...

...happens all the time.
