Why P won't be doin' nuthin this year It was obvious last year P was going to be doing something.
Think about it. Towards the end of the year before he'd done a mini-tour of Asia/Australia. At each of those concerts he played at least one of the new tunes from Musicology. Hey I even remember hearing Musicology at one of those concerts and I just knew it was a hit. The bottom line is, P was testing out these new tunes to see what reaction he was going to get, was giving the band a workout in public and creating some momentum in the US market (through rumours from Asia/Australia of what a great concert/tour it will be). It was obvious something was going to happen. This year, he finished the Musicology tour of the US in September (I think). No brand new music was given a spin at any of those concerts. Also, since then, there's been no mini-tours. I seriously doubt there will be much activity this year. Or if there is, it is very unlikely to be intended to have the "commercial" appeal of the Musicology tour/album. And who could blame him. He's given the fans what they wanted and consequently been laughing all the way to the bank. And by the way, I'm not cynical. You've got to remember, the guy is in his forties. It's not like he's twenty and wants to rule the world anymore (which may explain the type of music he's playing at the moment - but that's another topic). The shame is, he's created a fair amount of momentum and it would be incredible if he could drop one of those gems like ATWIAD, Lovesexy or SOTT and then tour - but somehow I don't think its likely. Please, I'd like it if someone could disagree with me (and point out where I'm wrong), cause I'd love for a brand new kick ass album to come out!

it could be argued that he played some of that new song ... "tax collector blues or whatever during the acoustic set ! "

"won't be doin' nuthin" -- these double-negatives confuse me... so is he or ain't he?
anyway, i've been following him for 20+ years, and i've come to learn one thing: Prince is only predictable in his unpredictability. [Edited 1/24/05 16:48pm]

One of the more persistant rumours concerning Prince
in 2005 is the release of an unplugged cd in the spring. Since this is appears to be a cd of previously released songs there are no new songs to try out. Plus the Musicology tour included an unplugged set so he has been previewing the new cd in a way. Should Prince continue the Musicolgy Tour overseas he could still work in new material before the release of a new cd in late 2005.
