Did Prince influence these things?????

In the late 80's and early nineties a whole bunch of videos started to come out in black and white. It became the "hip" thing. Was "under the cherry moon" a big influence on this?? Or was Prince following a trend?

Also, in the late 80's many pop artists went on a religious slant. George Michael (Faith, the cross earrings etc.) and Madonna (like a prayer). Did Prince influence this movement as well??? Even the symbols George Michael used on the "faith" album
are similar to the heart, cross, and peace signs of "Sign O the Times".

Just wonderin' what you think.....

Outlook is unlikely.

I know that he once worked with Anton Corbijn who is known for his black and white films and photography. Corbijn does a lot of work with Depeche Mode who is also known for their post '80s black and white videos and films. I'm not sure, though. I think Under the Cherry Moon's black and white was influenced by the theme of the movie and the time period in which it was supposed to capture.
