Musicology: what u want or what u need? Ok, it's a bit of a well-worn topic, but for the end of '04...
I was thinkin about P's relatively recent declaration that he'd rather not give folks what they want, when he can give them what they need, and I think that Musicology was a bit of a compromise. I mean, in terms of musicianship and quality songwriting it's a "what u need" album, but then, in terms of predictability and trying to please radio-friendly material it also verges on a "what u want" record. So what's your vote? 1. Musicology= "what u need" or 2. Musicology= "what u want" "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

These days, Anji prefers to sidestep his own individual perspective of 'truth' to throw his eyes around the corner of collective reality, where 'God' exists solely through the experiences of every living concious spark of 'existance' anchored to flesh and blood vehicles within the constraints of this uni-verse (one song) & illusional timeframe and the uni-verses (a triple Yes concept album) & illusional timeframes we can't conceive with our spastic three-dimentional thinking perspective. Come back, Anji! . [Edited 1/23/05 14:55pm] | |
