The steeles recorded the same track and it was off the soundtrack to the film "blankman". The Steeles were a gospel group.

The version with Prince singing is unreleased, but out there in top-notch quality. I'm such a completeist, I bought that Blankman soundtrack.

I do have the NPG single of this song! Prince wrote it for Earth wind and fire...it is somewhere on their album from the 90's

I got the soundtrack too.....if I remember it sounded alot like Tevin Campbells "uncle sam"?

Cool. So he wrote it 4 EW and fire yet still let thw NPG (or the steeles) record it again a year later?


Do both versions sound the same?

I don't know what the other version sounds like, but the Prince version sounds like it's official--doesn't have that low quality bootleg sound to it.

suffice to say it sucked!

Film was ok. Good family film. I like damon Wayans and David allen grier so thats why i liked it.
