Is there a remix version of My Name Is Prince without Tony's rap? I know ppl here hate it, but I love this song; it just makes me smile. But Tony's rap KILLS this song. Anyone know if there's a remix version with Tony's rap taken out?
This song could've been so great if that rap was replaced with a wicked P guitar solo. [Edited 1/22/05 6:34am] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Ummmmm.....nope.I haven't heard of one.I liked the rap though.I didn't think that it threw it off.I also agree that a guitar solo would've Kicked it up another notch!!( thanks Emeril.. ) But I think Prince was going more for the urban crowd when he made that album and Diamonds and Pearls and GoldNigga.... -Sensualone was here...

There's the version where I turn the sound down at the 4'38" mark. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

Hehe, I know what you mean. Once it gets to that point I always hit the skip button. Such a shame. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

A shame...and kind of stupid when you think that some rapper named Tony M ruined a Prince song called "My Name is Prince"! Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

It's even more frustrating when you imagine how great a rockin' guitar solo would've been in its place; cause what would fit a song called "My Name is Prince" better than an awesome guitar solo? Stupid Prince had to put his worthless protegee in that spot. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Ah...that's what Prince should have said during the final mixdowns of the Diamonds and Pearls and albums. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

I should say that I do like both albums, but I often imagine what songs like "Love 2 the 9s" would have sounded like without Tony M. on there, not to mention what Diamonds and Pearls would have been like with "Jughead" thrown out and something else in it place. Tony M. had his flash in the pan with the Goldnigga album (a lot of which I like), but he had no place on one, let alone TWO, Prince albums. And watching him on stage made me ill. I can't stand it. If I don't ever hear igna-igna-ign'ant again, that would suit me fine.

Give him his dues...He made Willing And Able! TRUE...that one is nice. The diamond in the rough of Tony M. contributions to Prince songs. Note, however, that his appearance was short and sweet, he was subdued a bit by the "phone" filter, and he wasn't blatantly trying to rap as fast as his lips could move under normal human living conditions.
