What Prince album did you expect the most from that disappointed you the most? I don't mean the worst Prince album ever, but moreso which one let you down the most because of the expectations you had for it?
For me, it's Batman. That's one of my fav movies, one I've watched a billion times religiously since I was 5, and so you'd think my musical idol doing the soundtrack would be a dream come true. But nope, I can't even bear to listen to most of the CD's songs on their own. What about you? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Diamonds and Pearls, there are some great songs, but it could do without the Tony M raps and Jughead

Batman gets such a (unfair) rough ride.
Scandalous is one of his all time greatest ballads. The Future is one of his darkest, most haunting funk jams to date. And then there's Electric Chair and Vicki's Waiting.... Sure you have Arms Of Orion, Batdance and Lemon Crush... but those are the only throw-away fillers on the disc.

Most albums I own from other artists often have four, five or six tracks I consider "filler". Maybe my standards are just too high?

Emancipation. Don't get me wrong--it's a great album. But the album Prince "Was born to make?" Nope. Not even one of his "major" albums. Just a good easy-to-listen to album with a few annoying bumps on each CD. . [Edited 1/22/05 8:49am]

Emancipation. I remember listening to it once and not listening to it again for about 3 years.

- Emancipation.
I remember when I put it on in the car when I first got it, and "Jam of the Year" came on, my brother said, "Isn't this QVC theme music?" I couldn't argue... An album that screams: follower. Rave comes in a close number 2. 2 golden opportunities squandered.

Emancipation because of the hype. It's a very average to maybe slightly above average record but after all the buildup I was hoping for another SOTT.

A Prince album made you cry cause you didn't like it? I don't know about crying but I do know that I REALLY wanted to leave the game room at Paisley Park when they were playing it for us at the listening party. At the time it was like 70 minutes of torture which I had paid for. The record has since grown on me.

Chaos & Disorder.
I wasn't tapped into the Prince grapevine when it was released so I didn't know about a new cd until a few days before its release date & I knew nothing of its content. I was convinced it was a Vault CD & had real high expectations. Its one of my least favorite cds.
