Anybody Else Have Those Dreams?

Prince's music has always alluded to it...has anybody else here experienced dreams of armageddon/end times/God's return...and if you did, was that what attracted you to Prince's music?

When I was a kid, I used to have dreams about that kind of stuff about once a week. I never talked about it though. Prince's music kind of made me feel less weird about it.

"The sky was all purple..." blew me away. No dreams though. Iron Maiden or Sabbath have songs of similar ilk which hit hard also.

I have...they are pretty interesting. My brother gets them more than I do though. The songs about Armageddon that Prince has released really blow me away...1999 and Crystal Ball are my 2nd and 3rd favorite songs, respectively.

Don't know about end times ... had a dream about people running from Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge from what I thought was a giant tsunami at the time ... dismissed it as not making sense until I turned on the t.v. Sept. 11 and saw people running from a cloud of smoke.
Have had dreams of Revelations BEFORE reading it, so my take on it is not conventional and I "go by what's in here" ... I will say, though, that if u don't get the song "7" it's all in this particular chapter/book.
Have had several others ... interested in yours ... orgnote me if u get the notion. wink

7 was one of the first song that REALLY appealed to me of Prince's. I spent ages interpreting it with the book of revelations. I think I've figured it out now, but I still love it.

Nevertheless, I've never had dreams about the apocalypse, although I frequently think about my own mortality and release that I've already lived nearly 1/4 of my life (if I'm lucky). It is for this reason, and this reason alone that I hope for the existence of God.

Yeah, I crank that one on "10" in my car at least once a week along with a newly revisited Elephants & Flowers ... if these two don't weigh Heaven on u're heart, I don't know what will. Don't think too hard, though wink ... just absorb the xperience. PEACE!

I used to have the dreams regularly then around 17 or 18 they stopped being so frequent. I still have them maybe three times per year and they can be creepy experiences.

I wasn't raised in a religous family, but the dreams usually carry some sort of religious theme.

Short synopsis: The world is in chaos, war breaks out or an unnatural phenomenon (like a violent storm) starts to happen and I *know* it's God's return. Things become immensely silent and still, the world sometimes comes to a grinding halt and I know that God has returned. In one particular dream, everything that man has created ceases to work (computers, machines, etc.).

I haven't experienced the "after" in the dreams. Just the events leading up to it. Most of the time it feels like documentary footage. I'm not usually afraid in the dreams, although the world is in some form of chaos at the time.
I'm probably over-simplifying nearly 20+ years of these dreams, but those are the general scenarios. They've left me with a sense of knowing that it is important to get *it* right in life.

I've only met a few people over the years that have had a similar experience. I'm kind of thankful for Prince's music and that he shares some of those types of ideas. Lovesexy has always been a great affirmation for me.

I guess that's the "frightening" part, that's actually not so frightening. With a similar pattern, one of my dreams involved six clouds morphing into angels. When the 7th one was set into motion, the world (nature, mankind and all both have ever known) came to a halt and mute existence. The silence could make the hair on your back bust through u're clothes, but at the same time, it was the ULTIMATE peace (although, at the time, I woke up in a cold sweat with my heart pounding outside of my chest). smile

Fascinating topic.
I can't say I've ever had those armageddon dreams. In contrast, I've had one that was so vivid, the best way to describe it was heaven on earth. Magical place I was walking through with an indescribable feeling of completeness.

The recurring theme when growing up for me were dreams where I'd be running away from something/someone and there'd always be something holding me back. I would struggle as hard as I could to run away but I wouldn't be able to move. There'd always be something holding me back..like something was attached to me and somebody/something would be pulling on that string.

I don't get those dreams anymore...and I can't say I have any sort of recurring theme nowadays. Occasionally I get "visions" of events that happened or are about to happen. I've had a few that have convinced me that we are connected and communicate through our dreams. Most of my dreams these days deal with my deep personal thoughts of people or places. Very few, if any, shake me up. They always make me think, though.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like we have similar experiences. The silence in my dreams has such a massive quality.

Another aspect of these dreams is that when I'm awake and experience deja vu, I feel like I'm watching my life outside of my body and I have a sense that the next few seconds relate to the dreams that I have. The detached clarity makes me feel like things are getting "closer".

I'm not going to be seen standing on the roadside wearing a "The End Is Near" sandwich sign anytime soon though. *grin*

Hee, hee ... ditto. I know when I told my mom about the
"6 + (1) coming" dream, she looked at me like I was some sort of freak! eek
Next thing I know, she's in church 3-4x a week, stopped dancing, got rid of her Rufus & Chaka Khan records, the whole 9 lol ... and, I'm trying to explain to her what I FELT in the dream ... that it's not THAT serious. That the "after" is beyond what any of us can understand, for the time being anyway. Oh, well. Whatever floats her boat, heh? smile After all, Heaven on Earth can be had right now if we all strived to B our ULTIMATE best. ONE LOVE.
