Prince and Roger Troutman I'm just wondering what you guys think. If Roger was still alive you think him and Prince would do some music together? I kinda think they would. Paul G II

I think it coulda been a fun collaboration, but I doubt it ever would have happened in the first place. I don't think he'd go for it. I'm not slighting Roger - Zapp is a favorite of mine - but it woulda been strange hearing P duet with a talkbox.

Yeah it would sound kinda weird I guess.. but the both of them are funky... and I think the talk box and a falsetto voice would sound cool. Paul G II

Almost a year ago, I ran a thread "Controversy/More Bounce To The Ounce" and discussed which song was the funkiest. Anyway, I DO feel strongly that P and Roger would have hooked up. Remember, back on P's Controversy tour, Zapp opened for P. They respected each other as artists and musicians and musically, they're not that far apart, funkwise. Also, Roger was a helluva lead guitarist as well. I think that could have been explored. I hear a "Shockadelica" type groove with P and Roger on top of that doing their thing. I hear a "Shockadelica" type groove with P and Roger on top of that doing their thing. Both were WB artists, both represented tha FUNK. I could see them getting together and exploring each others musicianship. Roger had a song on one of his albums(cannot remember which song), but it went something like..."Now we got the Minneapolis Connection.....thank you Prince, cause you sound so good to me". Was fortunate enough to see Roger/Zapp many times before his death, and heard him refer to P as one of the musicians in the world that cannot be emulated. The tragic thing about Roger's death, was that as far as being a top-list performer, he was just coming into his own light, due to his sampling by the rap community. If you havent gotten his greatest hits, pick it up, there are so many great tunes that he wrote....not just the standards that got played on the radio. As a matter of fact, I think the song that I'm refering to is called "Radio". If anybody knows different please correct me. I think the song you're talkin' about is "It Doesn't Really Matter" off of the "New ZAP IV U album. "Radio" is on there as well. Roger was a kickass guitarist and he always included a cool instrumental on his/Zapp albums. Imagine a collaboration with P, Roger, Jesse, and Charlie Singleton of Cameo My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Thank you for the help, was relying on my memory and at 41, thats not the smartest thing to do!!! Charlie Singleton!!! I'll give you props on that one...alot of funkateers never include Charlie as a funk guitarist. He IS original Cameo, and never gets mentioned in the same breath as Larry Blackmon. B-Wild props for JesseDezz. P.S. I heard Roger do George Benson's Breezin' many time in concert...almost better than GB himself. Roger was a VERY underrated MUSICIAN, as well as, a guitarist.
