The first four songs of Prince albums are always the best!

It seems they are mini albums all onto themselves that show P's huge range of styles.

Around The World In A Day
Paisley Park
Condition Of The Heart
Raspberry Beret

Can't Stop This Feeling I Got
New Power Generation
Question Of U
Elephants & Flowers

My Name Is Prince
Sexy MF
Love 2 The 9s
The Morning Papers

and of course, the best four songs ever on a Prince a-bim,

Sign O The Times
Play In The Sunshine
Housequake
The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker

I disagree too.

One of the best songs on Graffiti Bridge has to "Joy in Repetition" which completely invalidates your assesment. I took this Graffiti Bridge, who's got the other albums? slam

Well that's certainly not true of purple rain, 1999, or sign o the times which are his three best as far as I'm concerned. In fact, those are all consistently strong hthroughout.

I can't say that this is true of every prince album. It's all a matter of taste and some of my favorite songs are not only not in the first four songs, but not among most other fans favs. I will say that many many albums of other artists in my collection of CDs the first four songs are the best by far. Doesn't it make sense that they would but their best songs at the beginning so that you stay tuned to hear the songs that aren't worth releasing to a single? I know that we all think the purple one is in a class by himself, but aren't their some commercial "rules" that even he might find worth following once in a while (i.e. - if you don't have a great album, put your best songs first and maybe your audience will keep listening?)?

Prince would never subscribe to this kind of tomfoolery. My argument isn't because EVERY Prince song is great, that is FAR from the truth(Animal Kingdom). Prince writes enough good songs to be able to have an album of good songs sprinkled with bad songs vs. a bad album sprinkled with good songs(except New Power Soul). That being said, it seems to me he saves the baddest ass shit for the end of the album, not the first 4 trax(Kiss wasn't one of the first 4 trax was it). I cite Sometimes it Snows In April(not BADASS, but really good), Gold, Party Up, Had U, Batdance, The Exodus Has Begun. Not even this theory is solid. I cite, Emancipation, Live 4 Love, etc...

It seems the only formula Prince really trys to follow it to release an album a year or as often as possible cuz he did skip a couple and only a couple meaning 2.

U have permission to dismiss this post because the main motivation was to denounce ANIMAL KINGDOM yet again.

Absolutely not.

In the days of records, I loved the Dirty Mind album basically for Side 2 which kicks off with UPTOWN and completely. rocks till the end. Also, side 2 of PR beginning with When Doves Cry was the side I listened to most always.

SOTT? Disc 2 is the better one on EVERY listen.

CO-SIGN!!

And I very strongly disagree that the first 4 songs are the best. On most of his albums the whole thing is great!

New Power Generation one of the best on Graffiti Bridge?

I can think of at least five or six better tracks. We Can Funk for starters.
