1999. When it was played over and over at the dawn of the millenium, I almost didn't make it.

here in va they act like "i wanna be your lover" is Prince's only song. I mean c'mon they could at least play the beautiful ones, or something. With all the jabillions of songs prince has released, they can only find "i wanna be ur lover" in their closet..

"Kiss" is always the one Prince track that gets played on radio here locally. "We got some Prince coming up..." 5 minutes later: Kiss. "Hey Prince was on tv last night, well we have some Prince for ya today: Kiss.

I was visiting my folks over the holidays, so I was sure that it would be a different song when the DJ there says "Look out, we have the funk coming up from Prince" Sonofabitch if it aint that funking song "Kiss".

Now, don't get me wrong..I love that song, but the local radio here plays it to death.

On R&B stations down here they wear out "When Doves Cry" and "Adore". On pop stations down here, they wear out "Little Red Corvette" and "Kiss". Every now and then, I hear "When Doves Cry" on both the R&B and pop stations, but not often.

They haven't played them to the point that I don't like them anymore though. I see them as a welcome change from the other junk they play. I just wish they remembered that Prince had many other songs besides these. Of course, they play the same songs over and over by all the other artists also. That's today's radio for you....gotta hate it!

ever since '82/'83 the most played has been: "1999"
i've heard that one more than any other on radio & tv
there was a time when i really liked the song

Kiss and the Most Beautiful Girl In the World (I got so sick of that song.)

I'm more into the Oldies station (rock, pop, Motown, folk, etc. -a pretty decent variety) and the Rock station now. (new and old, so it's a good vs. bad grab bag) I don't listen to the Top 40 station anymore, and they rarely played any Prince. But when they did, the most overplayed songs were 1999 and Kiss.

It's a good song, no doubt, but it has been played so often now, some people may think it's the only ballad Prince has ever done, they just should check the rest of his catalogue!

Pretty much anything from Purple Rain and of course Kiss... I always found the Cream video to be just plain old embarassing...

Over here in uk its most played songs are 1999 and little red corvette.
Infact there the only songs that get played here!!!!

since the radio no longer plays prince songs anymore the question does not apply anymore. I'm shocked when I do hear him on the radio. but when mtv played 1999 all day long for the milliuem that was truly over kill.

Definitely Kiss. In New York, when a club dj wants to break out an "oldie," it's the Prince song of choice. You would think he didn't do any other hot, danceable jams!

funny how it's different in different areas. Here in Israel, I'd say the most played ones are:

Kiss, MBGITW and Purple Rain.

I'm quite sick of PR. Raspberry Beret would've qualified when I lived in Oz. And take Me With U ALWAYS annoyed me, so I can't really comment.
