Everyday Is A Winding Road - Under-rated little gem.

Very anthemic... especially love the break-down at the end. How about that? Larry actually being the best part of a Prince song?

Especially love the bit that goes "We gone make it, weeee got new power soul."

Why the hate for this track?

Not a great song to begin with.
Sheryl Crow's version doesn't do anything for me either.
Prince's version is livlier but still a dull little song.

Sheryl Crow's original is cool.
Prince's remake is awful.

It is a bit overproduced. When all those instruments come in on the first chorus the song should get much louder, but it doesn't really.

Ok... here are some more topics you could use :

- Wedding Feast is the best song on TRC.
- 1999 should have been edited to a collection of 3 minute songs.`
- Forget Wendy and Lisa : Bobby Z was the most creative member of the Revolution`
- Purple Rain should have been a dance-oriented track`
- 1999 the New Master BETTER than the original`

Don't care what any of you cause I love this song to pieces. I think it is a lil funky 70's tune. Prince started his career in the 70's!!!

Come on people, the song is not as bad as some of you make it.

It's just... when I heard prince's version of "One of us", I thought - "Oh my god, he's kicking Joan Osborne's ass with that - far better than the original version".

That wasn't the case with "Everyday...". It's a nice version of the song, but it's not beating out the original (also nice). Maybe that's disappointing to some people, that a musician like Prince/prince didn't manage to make the ultimate version of the song. eek

I actually love Sheryl Crow's original, along with the entire album it comes from. One of my favorite albums.

Prince ruined it by changing lyrics and such, and adding Larry to the mix.

Okay, on another thread I laughed openly at a statement you made that I flat out thought was ridiculous. Well, you may be surprised to know that I don't completely disagree with you on this one. Its hardly a favorite track of mine, and on the whole I really don't care for the RU2TJF disc, but its not all that bad.

Its a cute, fun rendition, and P certainly puts his own stamp on it. Interestingly enough, I've noticed its almost always the Prince fans who hate it. Most non-fans that I've played it for think its a pretty decent cover. No, it isn't brilliant, and it probably should have been a b-side rather than an album cut, but that hardly negates it completely. Its danceable, and sounds quite distinctive from Crow's original. Larry's part is, as you put it, "anthemic", and I personally think it works.

Besides, its not half as bad as many of the other Rave tracks (*cough*Manowar*cough).
