It seems to me that a lot of critics and publications seem to disregard the sales figures of Musicology because of the concert giveaway. While I can admit that this strategy probably did boost sales.... They fail to take in account that many people would have bought it in the stores if it wasn't given out! They didn't have to because Prince brought it to them direct... Many of my friends who are die hard fans simply waited.... For that matter, how many people ended up with more than one copy? I think the naysayers are just hatin'. Any thoughts?

I purchased Musicology first in a local shop but than I ended up going to 7 total concerts, so I have plent of copies that I know I would not have purchased. I believe that most people only saw this tour once and I am in the minority. I'd say 97% of people only have one copy...I think Prince was a genius distributing it with the ticket. I bet he didn't expect all the hub-bub from the industry but it did make him look like a shrewd businessman. Truthfully, I also believe that most of the people who saw this show would not have gone out to the local record shop to pick up the album...2 many people want 2 relive his past hits and not give the new stuff a try...They're loss but I think Prince managed 2 school a few...Aloha~

i agree with wishuvn or whatever you are called...strategy! The album is more worthless than a covers tape in the 99cent bargain bin now -- try sell a copy on eBay!

I bought the downlaod, a long box version from eBay and got a gift of the standard CD (that was a nice gift, I just left it in the wrapper for collectors sake)...

only true fans would have bothered though...

But they did consider this in the numbers..it was in the press
