Prince onstage

I have never been fortuate to have gone to a Prince concert ( I know, I know shame on me!) but from looking at all his footage what time frame would you say Prince was the most amazing live? I would say even though I am not crazy about the album Parade I think he was just on fire during '86. If I could go back in time I would definatly want to see a show in that time. U?

Musically, Parade, Gold and One Night alone were stand outs. they all rocked. the great thing about the Parade shows was that it was different every night.

Showmanship wise, its gotta be lovesexy and SOTT!

I've been went to 2 Musicology concerts. I only bought tickets for one, but he out on such a jamming, mesmerizing show, the next day I ran out and bought tickets for the next show, which I paid dearly for. That was my first time seeing him live and if me running out the next day and buying tickets again tells you anything, then I think it's safe 2 say the man puts on an amazing show. Yes, I wish I could have seen him in other concerts (especially when he performed songs like Darling Nikki and Erotic City). I know 4 sure, I won't be missing ANY OTHER concerts that come to my tri-state area. I was amped up for days afterward. U ABSOLUTELY MUST attend a Prince concert when he tours again, girl. headbang music

honestly, One night alone was the best I had ever seen. the intimacy of the show, the jazz show set up, I loved it. For the "show" I think the triple threat tour---1999 was the best. I loved that we heard his music in 3 different ways all night long.

Lovesexy was great as fas as stage set up and fanfare--the basketball hoop and the car were the bomb.

Musicology was more a welcome home for me, I loved seeing him happy, enjoying the crowd and the music and the money. He was content. I remember in Houston he said yeah, we got PAID today and then went into Price and the Band.

I have seen him about 25 times, so I have been very very very blessed.

gotta love it!

I've seen him about twenty times beginning with the Lovesexy tour and many of those have been aftershows- I loved Hit and Run- especially the Roseland gig- I know a lot of people complain about Musicology that it was a retread of his "hits" but I'm all for people that had written him off, seeing how amazing he is live- and there's a reason those songs have stood the test of time.

I went to all three Garden Musicology shows and night number two remains my favorite- being in the front row in front of the couch didn't hurt! I took a friend of mine who'd never seen him live, and I'd been promising her that we would go to a Prince show for years and I'd been raving to her for years- she understood.... He's a performer like no other.

Dirty Mind Tour-
Uptown Theater,Chicago-day after Christmas 1980(if i remember correctly).
my dad took me to this show,i had just turned 16,he got into Prince after hearing When U Were Mine all summer on wxrt.
we got into the theater,it was small,it was packed,i was nervous!
I had no idea what was about to take to the stage, then, the lights went down
and Bobby Z. started the snare drum roll that kicks off "Uptown"...all hell broke loose in that place and Prince wasn't even on the stage yet!
I remember people started standing on their chairs,on their girlfriends and boyfriends shoulders...then he strutted out fromm the side of the stage, hohner strapped to him,Fink roboting his ass off, lisa in lingerie-the whole bit!
i was hooked!
ol' boy took complete control of that place for the next hour or so(it was a short concert by today's standards..)
to me,this was Prince at his best, most un-compromising and loudest!
i couldn't believe this was the same cat that put out "For You" and "Prince"
this was definately a "rock show".
i do remember he was wearing leg-warmers,shiny black briefs, one black boot-one white boot and the tattered trenchcoat with buttons all over it,sang like his life depended on it,no religeous speil,no "parents, take your kids outside"rap,no larry,no kirky j.just unadulterated funkrock.
by the way-Fink's synth was so loud,my ears rang for the next 3 days...
to me,this was Prince at his best onstage...
