The Undertaker - Prince's nod 2 Hendrix? From: MichaelBland
Subject: Re: Happy New Year Sent: Mon Jan 3 2005 6:34am Hey, Anji. A happy new year to you also! Thanks for the email. In response to your questions - Prince, Sonny and myself often took part in trio jams at Paisley Park. These were often long and highly improvised affairs. Although this was never confirmed by the man himself, I think the 3 piece idea was Prince's nod to Hendrix. Along with consisiting of just 3 members, we would cover alot of his tunes as well as other acts (something quite typical of Hendrix, which Prince appeared to like, particularly in a rehearsal session). I could never say what performances were actually canned during these sessions. Trio sessions were often very, very long and highly improvised. However, there was a tendancy to record pretty much anything we played. As for any work we did with Prince being released, I really could not say. It'd be nice to hear back on some of that stuff. There is a performance available entitled 'The Undertaker', which consists of just Prince, Sonny and myself. Hope that helps. Regards, Mike

Best album of the 90s, period.
Since it was officially put out, I consider it an official release.

Since it was officially put out, I consider it an official release. I still like The Gold Experience a bit more, but The Undertaker is right behind it. No other P album during that decade comes close.

Well, here's your big chance: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...eName=WDVW Be prepared to spend lots of $$$! well thanks, but I have my limits in being a fan. I own lots of P-stuff (including boots) but I have never paid, and will never pay ridiculous amounts of money..... Luckily Gooey lives here in town, I'm sure he can hook me up!

Since it was officially put out, I consider it an official release. It was also officially covered in that hellish shellac. WB Bastards... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
