17 Days dicussion.... i found this on a search of what happened between Vanity and Prince
http://www.angelfire.com/...onia6.html Some of the first songs Prince recorded for the album in late December 1983 and early 1984 included "The Glamorous Life," "In A Spanish Villa," "Next Time Wipe The Lipstick Off Your Collar," "Oliver's House," and a song called "Blue Love." He also revamped the Vanity 6 outtake "Moral Majority" and recorded "17 Days" for possible use by Apollonia 6, to be sung by Brenda, the group's smoker (hence the lyric, "All I've got is two cigarettes and this broken heart of mine"). Work on their album continued throughout January and February 1984 alongside sessions for The Time's Ice Cream Castle and other recordings. i've read a lot of posts about if Prince used to smoke and the lyrics in 17 Days.... i hope this helps, and if it's wrong, I apologize for the post. Why would Prince put OOO SHE SHE WA WA on the Apollonia 6 album? Miguel MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! My bad, for some reason I thought that OOO SHE SHE was on the Vanity 6 record. Miguel MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! Could you imagine what a tragedy it would have been if The Glamorous Life or Oliver's House would've been done by Vanity or Apples? No offense to them (I love both albums), but those songs are all about Sheila's percussion!!!
There are so many subtle details to the percussion tracks in both, and tons of syncopation.... I mean how could Glamorous life be done without timbales?? | |
