Most UNDERplayed Prince Single

In relation to the Overplayed thread...what song that was big for Prince on the radio do you wish you can hear more oftoday?

For me it's....7 . Big back in the day and still get goosebumps when its makes a rare raido appearance today .

Sign O' the Times is a close second.

I have always wondered why radio stations always play the same songs with artists like Prince who have had countless hits. "Batdance" is a great example, it was a top ten hit all over the world, but on Dutch radio I just hear Purple Rain, When Doves Cry and Kiss.

It is not just Prince, they do it with other artists too. Too bad, there are so may great older songs and they tend to play only a few them over and over again.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I don't know if I've ever heard 7 played on the radio. I would get up and start dancing. I love 7.

VH1 classic is a great place to catch those underplayed Prince gems. Especially on their CLassic/Current show. Recently I've seen the videos for Mountains and America here.

They never play Little Red Corvette or Kiss..thank God! smile

I'd define "underplayed" as a single which was a top 10 hit that doesn't get a lot of airplay. That being the case, I'd look at:

Alphabet St.
Batdance
Thieves In the Temple
Cream
7
Sign O' The Times
U Got the Look
ICNTTPOYM
Diamonds and Pearls
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World

It's disappointing none of these hits are mentioned, leaving the impression Prince hasn't had a hit single since "Kiss."

others that may qualify (top 20/top 40)

Mountains
Girls and Boys
Gett Off
Money Don't Matter 2Night
Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Alphabet St. -too funky.. after 1988 it was never heard again much on radio... a shame!
Batdance - least heard #1 Prince song
Thieves In the Temple - Great single , the whole Graffiti Bridge thing killed it for recurrent radio
Cream - not a big fan ..hear enough as it is
7 - see first post
Sign O' The Times - see first post
U Got the Look - too chessey , perfectly happy off the airwaves
ICNTTPOYM - yeah , should be played at least a little today
Diamonds and Pearls - ick!
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World - always liked for some reason , but yeah pretty much never heard on the raido after 1995

alphabet street
Arms of Orion
Scandalous
Erotic City (I know its a B-side)
I never really understood why people like Batdance so much I always thought it was corny. Well to each his own i supose.

Pop Life. I don't think I've ever heard it on the radio. Ever.
