As Prince has lost yet another award (Best Male Singer on the People's Choice Awards), I was trying to imagine how much fuller Prince's award closet would be if that poser Usher hadn't released his album in 2004. Usher stole Prince's AMAs, his VMAs and will no doubt take his Grammys too. Usher is all polish, no substance and it puts a little bit of damper on the year that Prince didn't win more awards. Oh well, I guess he'll "take" the 94 million is concert sales as a consolation.

To paraphrase Prince from 87 in reference to U2: Prince could do Usher's music but Usher COULD NOT do Housequake.

Here's to hoping that 2005 brings renewed obscurity to Usher and his Lil' Jon too!

Um, it's not a competition. Prince's year would probably be the same without Usher. The pie that is pop music is big enough for both of them. It's not like people who bought Usher's album woulda bought Prince's if Usher hadn't been around. In concert is where you see people's real talent-just ask Ashley Simpson. Prince tore it up on the road this year-Usher tore it up in the wallets of teenagers and 20somethings who don't know any better.

Usher sat next next 2 me at one of this years Garden shows and looked like a big fan as well as student of the man...Give Usher credit...I think he has matured alot since he first came out. I 4 one could not stand him and not because of his writing I've become a much larger fan...I think Usher will continue to grow as an artist and yes, I think he'll still be around in 10 years...

if you think about it, i dont think prince is really out for the awards... (although thats an added bonus) he's said so many times, it's just about the music.

i mean really, what would you rather listen to? a crappy usher tune that repeats on the radio 3 million times, or classic/new prince?

If Usher had not released an album in 2004,some other lame,talentless fool would have sold millions of CDs,been played a million times on the radio and MTV,and won most of the awards.The young,record-buying public would have simply latched onto some other mindless,trendy crap.The fact that Prince is able to enjoy some success in this screwed-up music era is quite remarkable.

A good deal of the American public (especially the young), let the media dictate to them who they should like, what they should buy, what they should listen to, what they should wear, who they should find sexy, what they should eat, and the list goes on. Many musicians (if U can call them that) today have so much studio mixed music and sound in the background. It amazes me that people think that all musicians have incredible voices. It's like beleiving models look like they do in person as they do in an airbrushed magazine.
