prince's cover of jimi hendrix"vodoo chile" is awful

i still can't belive how bad is prince's version of vodoo chile.
i'm talking about a version from paisley park i think it's from 1994.
it's the one where he shouts bakers eve or something.

guitar playing on it nothing special.dare to say aMATERISH.
i always thought prince was one of the rare players,
who could play jimi's song with a feeling close to jimi.

whole song in prince's version is organ driven.
guitar playing on it sounds primitive.
very bad, thought he maked up for me on power of soul tribute.

I believe the term is "Vegas...E!" as in the key of the chord for the band to play.

Also, as I and others on here have said before, it's not always the complexity or the speed of the playing that makes the sound awesome. More times than many, it's the emotion behind it. wink

And that is the problem with bootlegs. That version of the song is from a Paisley Park jam session, and was, most likely, never intended by Prince to be anything other than him fuckin' around on a Jimi Hendrix tune. Bootlegs allow people (who weren't in the room) to take that moment and try to analyze it as Prince's definitive take on Jimi.

It's the equivalent to watching Michael Jordan shooting some warm up shots and trying to critique them as if they were in a play off game.
