Is Rootie Kazootie an actual song? Or is it a segue on the Newpower Madhouse album? What does it sound like? And why isn't it on THE WORK set?

Yes Rootie Kazootie is an actual song (7:03 in length). It is from the unreleased Madhouse 24 album recorded in 1993-94. Credited musiciand on the track are O(->, Eric Leeds, Michael B., Sonny T, and Levi Seacer Jr.
You can find a copy of it on several bootlegs, the best of which is entitled Fantasia (Moonraker Records catalog #242/43/44).

Rootie Kazootie is one of the best ones on there. Hell, it's one of the best Madhouse tracks period. It's got a really great vibe- happy and relaxed.

Cool. I figured it as a song, because I have the rest of them, and Uptown's DOW book lists which ones are segues (duh) but not that. So I was just wondering... does anyone kno hy it's not on THE WORK? Or if it will be on vol. 6 & 7 or whatever/whenever?

There are NUMEROUS omissions from The Work series... perhaps someone should start a thread listing all the tracks they have missed out (as well as the fakes that have slipped through the net...)

the track "Parlour Games" was on 24 as well wasn't it?

I think that's a great tune, very relaxed and the way the voice is used as an instrument and just flows through the music is fantastic.

One thing I've always thought was odd about this album is that it appears to be missing a track. I'll explain... If you ignore the segues, and number all the tracks like the other Madhouse albums, you find there's one short.

Seventeen=17, Rootie Kazootie=18, Space=19, Asswoop=20, Parlor Games=21, (Got 2) Give It Up=22, Twenty Four=23!

The album does contain six longer pieces ("17", "Rootie Kazootie", "Space", "Aswoop", "parlor Games" and "Got 2 Give It Up") and four brief instrumental segues.

I am not aware of a track called "24" being part of the configuration this particular set, however.

Actually,you could well be referring to a Jazz-tinged instrumental that is often attributedto Madhouse, and is known as"24" amongst collectors (judging by its length).

The piece is in fact a solo performance by Prince with no relation to Madhouse whatsoever, and should therefore not be included as part of the 'Newpower Madhouse' set.

is "Asswoop" the same track that was released in one of the ahdioshows?

It was in Ahdio 5 or 6, I believe.....
