You've just been hired...

You've just been hired to be Prince's business manager and have been given the key to all of the music and video recordings that he "owns". After you get done cleaning the cream out of your pants, what would be the 1st few things you would release?

Myself, I might have to start with a dual DVD release of both the Musicology Tour and Jam of the Year tour. A DVD with all of his videos since Emancipation, and then start sifting through that vault of his...

....aw...mayB u don't know how P go....he most definately has n his mind whatever he thinks he wants...after he outlined his thoughts i'd give my honest opinion & suggestions & that would probably B the end of it....unless u r willing 2 accept that anything u think/say/do is But an extension of the encompassing 'genius' of Prince-u won't last long....n answer 2 your question tho' i would suggest something new & true, something 2 reveal honestly through words & music about what he has learned thus far n his journey that he feels has Been the most beneficial 4 his growth whether it's mental, emotional or spiritual.... wink

maybe I don't know how P go? um... this was meant as an adventure in make-believe land. Something to have fun with. Now put your common sense away and get out here and have some fun. cool

All the revolution stuff, digitally remastered.

I would then get with apple about limited edition Prince I-pods in multiple colors, each color with a different set of Prince albums on each (each color would contain 10 albums). All the albums not included in any particular ipod could be bough at additional charges from I-tunes.

The media blitz surrounding an unprecidented move like that would dwarf U2's efforts, and couldn't be duplicated by any contemperaries.

I can see the headlines now "thousands of Prince fans file bankruptcy after buying all of I-Pods limited edition Prince releases..."

I would enjoy having the key, but would tell Prince as his business manager that I am locking it away. I would refuse to release any of it.

First of all, I would have Prince to keep putting out more recent type stuff like "Call My Name" (which is not one of my favorites) to fit in with today's commercial market and make a little bit of money.

Once there is money to spare, I would take a chance on getting a lot of Prince's old fans back by releasing the follow-up album to "1999" that he used to talk about. I would promote the hell out of it with music videos and a concert tour claiming the "old Prince" is back. I'm not talking about going after the fickle pop fans that were into "Purple Rain" who were ready to jump on the next big trend, I'm talking about going after the loyal following that Prince had in the R&B world before "Purple Rain" but left because of the weirdness. Of course, it would be taking a major chance because a lot of these people are much older now and don't buy music from anyone anymore but I see it this way. Prince has taken major chances with albums like "N.E.W.S.", and "The Rainbow Children" that he knows beforehand not many people are going to get into. If he's going to chance, why not take a chance that could possibly be profitable and get back Prince's reputation and good name with the fans that made him famous to begin with. It would take a lot of promotion but I think a lot of the old fans might bite as well as some of the fickle "Purple Rain" fans.

If that didn't work, then I would have Prince to continue on the path he is on with "Musicology" and release the "old Prince" stuff through the NPG Music Club. If there aren't enough old fans to buy music from the mainstream, I do believe there would be a substantial amount that would buy through the club if there was music available that was appealing to them. That's the only reason, I, myself, have not joined. Prince could also continue selling all his far out music he's been doing for years but it's time to stop ignoring the old fans that made him a star to begin with. Some of us have stuck with him and supported him throughout the years despite the fact that he left us and never looked back. A great number might come back if it was the type of music they wanted to hear. I can understand that Prince's head is not in that same mood anymore and he wouldn't be into it if he recorded new stuff in that mode but if there's "old Prince" that is already recorded in the vault, why the hell is he sitting on it? Release it and get some of those fans back.

And one more thing. The music from the NPG Music Club should be for sale as well as for download. Not everyone has the time, patience, or a good enough computer to sit and download music so why not have it for sale also? That's another reason I haven't joined.

Firstly great topic. As a big prince fan but maybe not as knowledgable as I would like I'm not sure what I would release, not really sure whats there. Firlsty I would release dvd's of old concerts, Nude tour ect..... Prince was at his concert best then (haven't seen him in a while). The lovesexy tour with behind the scenes extra's would be fantastic. From the vaults I would eventually just release everything, slowly but what I would want is Prince to make more new music, do tv interviews and kick MJ's arse
