Prince wasn't on Oprah this past year. In fact, it was many years ago now that he appeared on her show. Are you thinking of Ellen?

Not on Oprah. He did Ellen and a few other shows, but not Op.

No he didn't.

Woulda been nice to see him on there again, but I doubt he would ever go back on her show because of how big of a deal he made about being married (to Mayte) and being a father on the show, I can see why he would want to avoid those catch-up questions.

Now he scared me a little in that interview. Maybe it was the trauma of losing his son.

I thought the 1996 interview was really cool. The fact that he let her into PP says a lot but I do think that she can be a bit intrusive with interviews and I highly doubt he would want to go on her show now being that he doesn't like to discuss his personal life these days.

OPRAH: "Sex in the Summer." This is a song that featured the ultrasound heartbeat of your baby?

0{+> : Yeah. What we did was take a microphone and place it on Mayte's stomach and move it around with the gel until we got the right spot. And then (imitates heartbeat) you know, you start to hear that And then we put the drums around that. That's the baby.

OPRAH: When you heard that sound for the first time, what did you think or feel about yourself?

0{+> : I was pretty much speechless.

OPRAH: Mm-hmm.

0{+> : It--it really grounds you, it makes you realize that things you thought wee important aren't really. That's what it meant to me.

I have seen excerpts from that interview, but I haven't seen it in its entirety. It would nice for Oprah to interview Prince again. Thanks for the link!

I wish he had done another Oprah interview. That was one of the best interviews I've ever seen. She asked some very good questions.

Yes, but his answers sucked.
Again, given the opportunity to actually sound sane and rational, Prince continued to build his self-agrandazing mystery. Answers like "The symbol just came 2 me in a dream" or "I have multiple personalities and we're not sure what sex the othe rone is" and on and on--complete bullshit. Why lie to Oprah? That bitch is Jesus to the stay-at-home moms worldwide. Prince could have and should have done better.

That's true but he's never going to give a straight answer to anyone's questions. At least Oprah asked him questions that others wouldn't dare ask him like "does it bother you when people think you are gay" and I absolutely love his reply "hey, whatever floats the boat".

What interview were you looking at? Considering the awful interview he did on MTV in 86 the Oprah interview was big improvement and for all we know he may have some sort of mental health issue. At least he is candid enough to talk about it. Dude knows he does some strange stuff.

I attended the JOTY concert in Chicago in 97 and Prince made reference to Oprah missing the show to attend the Tina Turner show instead. I am sure Prince has a long memory about that.

Not true! I don't think that I fit the typical mold of who watches her show. I'm not a housewife, middle age, or white! And even I was suprised at who I saw at his shows. Men and women in their 50s??? eek

hey, perhaps my choice of words were bad but i just think op's definitly overly told her audience about slavery over the years. So when beloved came out i rekon they wernt in the mood to sit thru an overly long epic about the subject, after all it aint been the first movie depicting it. Still dont agree, fine, do i care Haaael no.

i hate to thread jack here but...how many are too many? compared to the amount of holocaust films we havent had enough.....

and let me bring this back on topic..i think its a shame that prince hasnt swallowed his pride and appeared on oprah...maybe the two of them can discuss the political nature of the african/american media...maybe they could put their combined monies together and create a studio that cateers to the rest of america (ie, non-anglo saxon).....make movies with latins, blacks and asians in non-stereotypical roles.....

but sigh i doubt they have the balls to do it.
