I cant understand, that after all the info you have given about the company that has released this, and the fact that you have this disc and have seen it, that people still are doubting it. People dont seem to understand that this is an anormorphic, widescreen, 5.1 mix of the show. What bootlegger is going to go to all that trouble? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Not to mention that the only people with a widescreen edition of the movie are Prince and the people who released the movie officially in the first place back in 1987... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

However, I do know for a fact that the MUSIC for this movie was distributed by WB, which is why I looked for the logo in the first place because there's no way in hell WB would have let that out without getting their props and their share of the profit! That's just standard practice in the world money and power. None of which I'm going to get, hence the reason I couldn't care less!

They own the music of the album of the same name. The actual MUSIC that your hear in the movie can be used without Warner Bros. permission (Corvette/chevy ad). Hence, no WB logo. Thanks for playing though. I don't care how official it is, after seeing the caps from the thing I ordered it. Here's to hopin' my comes before the 25th also. "New Power slide...."

Well, I'm now fairly convinced this is a legit release. It's amazing that people are getting hung-up on the packaging! It's largely Prince's own fault that the rights to his material has got so convoluted.
Fact is, this sounds like the best version of the film we're gonna get, bar Prince actually getting involved for once, and is that ever likely to happen? He really is missing loads of opportunities - he could make a fortune if he spent a bit of time going back bringing his past work uptodate, I mean, I'd love to have Livesexy on dvd as much as Sign, the Sign cd needs remastering and the Gold Experience needs re-issuing even if he only sold it on his site. So this company that has brought this dvd out, if I was them, to sell as many copies as possible it would be logical advertise it's existence to the market, i.e. I'd contact all the Prince fan sites and let them know it was available and where to get it. Seems bizarre to just let fans stumble across it haphazardly.

You're right. If Prince didn't get involved in the Purple Rain DVD relaunch, there's practically zero chance he'll get involved in this one or any of his other yet-to-be-released-on-DVD videos. grammar edit [Edited 1/4/05 15:23pm]

Wanna bet his explanation for not being involved in the latest WB DVD releases is is that he was doing his own DVD releases but got "blocked" by WB (by doing their own releases) and thus not releasing them and then blame WB for that... As usual... And then brag about it (see "Xenophobia" 7CD set...) and "carrot" it to gullible dick sucking "faMs"... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

I don't get the big deal. It looks legit to me and the clarity is much better than my worn out VHS. I've seen the concert all over the Starz channels the last month or so and it looks like they have reporduced/re-released a better print. This sure is hell is better than that Brazillian version I saw at Best Buy. Bottom line, if you think its a bootleg don't buy it, but if you want it pick it up. No need to resort to juvenile arguments/name-calling. Kdavis I appreciate the heads up. I will definitely take a chance and order it.

StinkyWeaselTeats said: Anxiety said: but i think this DVD is capable of some kind of mainstream distribution, isn't it? Sign O the Times was really not a major movie. It about as close to an independent film as Prince got since no major in the US wanted to touch it at the time. It was only shown in 250 theatres in 30 major cities. Wasn't the film only shown in Loews Theatres (they fall somewhere in the Cineplex Odeon umbrella) during its time in the theatres? I'm sure any release it gets on dvd won't be on the same scale as Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon nor *gulp* Graffiti Bridge. Even though its a cult favorite among Prince fans, I don't see anyone knocking doors down for mainstream distribution and fancy promotion. This info is NOT true.....it was NOT only shown in Loews Theaters when released. I sat (twice) in Westwood, CA @ Mann National and watched it. It was by far a more wide-released movie than the limited "indie" film being portrayed here. No worries about the gripers. Heck, last week wallysafford very authoritatively stated that what Amazon.ca was shipping to me was, in fact, the CD set all over again. Now he says "bootleg"...obviously he knows what he's talking about
