Prince and the Paisley family. During the 80's Prince was mad at work creating music for all kinds of musicians. Soon after the success of Purple Rain Prince came up with Paisley Park records. The pace of music released on the label was amazing. But the quality was not the greatest. Some say Prince was running him self too thin.
After putting together The Time and other side projects the music seemed to be missing something. Now in my personal taste I love Sheila E. The Family and Jill Jones, but the other projects I thought were crap. It seems that a lot of the "Minneapolis Sound" bands were riding on the coat tails of Prince. Most of Princes music is loved by most of us if not all. Do you think the side projects were worth while for Prince or did his music suffer any? And why now are we not seeing this type of out put from Prince. Did the past teach him a lesson, or is he just not interested. I've heard that he's recorded 2 albums worth of songs with Lenny Kravitz. Why not release some? "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

I think the good that came out of the side projects far outweigh the bad. After all it is still Prince after all just with someone eles singing the words. "Love Bizarre" and "Jerk Out" are like two of my favorite songs. If Prince's music suffered any during that era all that means to me is he gave his better songs to others but it is still Prince all the way.
