What did you think of Prince's version of Whole lotta Love(guitar solo) from the live at the Aladdin DVD?

What did you think of Prince's version of "Whole lotta Love" from the live at the Aladdin DVD? The guitar solo was AMAZING!!!! At the end of the song when he plays the guitar "without hands", is this comparable to the similar performance from the Musicology tour? (I wasn't lucky enough to catch the tour).
thx!!!

Yeah I didn't catch the Musicology tour eaither but I do have this DVD. I love his version of "Whole lotta love" in fact it is crazy because that has always been my favorite Zepplin song covered by my favorite artist. Lucky me!!

every time i hear him do this cover - electric, acoustic, whatever - i go nuts for it. i was lucky enough to see it with my own eyes at the chicago aftershow, but my favorite performances of it were the toronto show where he and john blackwell went nuts on it for what seemed to be about 20 minutes, and the celly acoustic set, which i thought was just really a smooth performance in general.

i was VERY impressed with his rendition of the classic...i was in love with it and what he did with the guitar (the whole funeral bit lol) he did @ the show i was at too...i love how he experiments with different effects like that, so creative.

Oh no, baby--I take it nice and slow.

I actually found this version WEAK compared to the Xenophobia Celebration version. I was stoked to see it on the dvd then was totally disappointed after seeing it. Find the Xenophobia Celebration version, you won't be sorry.

I've always loved this song, and I love Prince doing it. But I've heard him do better performances of it than the Aladdin boot - he just doesn't let loose enough.

Right, the Aladdin performance is so-so compared to others, especially the 2002 celebration version and European afterhows.

ditto on that.

The celebration versions (acoustic and plugged in) are also both very good.

I dig the Aladdin version, though, it is just not as good as the others listed above.

I would've liked for the song to come back around after the weird part with the guitar solo like Zeppelin does. I think that's the best part of the song.

Also he can't quite scream it like Robert Plant.

Still, i think it's cool he did it at all.

I liked the Musicology version better, but maybe just cuz i was there!

His version doesn't really go anywhere when its plugged in, its more of jam. The unplugged version though was really special.
