Fallin in love all over again...

For the past few weeks, I've had the 1999 album playing in my car, and oh my gawd is it kicking my ass. Now, I first bought the album back in 1982. It was my very 1st Prince purchase. I immediatly fell in love with it and I've never not enjoyed it. But for some reason, it's exciting me like it used to when I first got it. I get goose bumps at certain times, I can't stop singing, making hand claps or playing the air drums and guitars and I don't care who's lookin' at me. It's like I'm fallin' in love with the album all over again.

Has anyone else recently re-discovered something, or re-found why they fell in love with his music in the 1st place?

I too have been listening to 1999. I like the more off-beat songs on the album. I was surprised when I listened to FREE. It's not one of my favorites but when I listened again, it was awesome. My favorite has to be AUTOMATIC. LADY CAB DRIVER and SOMETHING IN THE WATER are next.

I love it when this happens. I did the same thing recently. Imagine my HORROR when I discovered that my cd of "1999" DID NOT CONTAIN "DMSR"

I still throw up a little in my mouth just with the memory!

Yes, synths synths synths. I miss all of the strange sounds that he used to produce. I looked forward to them.

I'm in the process of falling back in love with 1999: THE NEW MASTER.

When I hear the searing keyboard lines and Kirk J's wicked phat drum beats I loose it everytime.....

I had the same experience with For You, which I was dowloading to my computer. We are so used to hearing extraordinary music from him. It is easy to forget that he was only 18(ish) when he recorded that. eek Now wonder the industry was in disbelief when they heard his stuff, playing all of the instruments and what-not.

The songs are really good and he does some really interesting things with his voice. So professional-sounding.. Truly amazing. drool3

Leaving DMSR off of the 1st pressing of 1999 onto CD was SUCH a bonehead decision. It makes ya wonder why we're all surprised with the current condition that the music business is in now...

You could almost imagine the brain-iacs in the Pop music industry falling into the same state of belief when they heard Musicology: "you mean people can actually still play instruments?"
