prince in my life well, i guess i should start off at saying that im 15 yeas old. and i bet you all are thinking"wow i bet she doesnt even really understand the music created by prince", but i do, iv been a Prince fan ever sence i was really little, thanks to my mom who has been a devoted prince fan ever scence he came out.
i have grown up having people my age asking who my favorite singer is, and i always say "prince"! and then i always get the same response" wow, isnt he gay, hes always wairing makeup and high heels". it pisses me off how people always have to be neggative twards him, why cant tehy look past all the other suff? and then i see and read some of these forms that are talking bad about prince, i mean come on, why are you on a prince web site when you just want to talk bad about him? prince has brought me and my mom closer over the years because of how much we both love prince. iv been to 1 of the paisleypark celebrations, 3 musicology shows, 1 one night alone show. iv listen to pretty much most of his cds, and almost own them all(there is alot!!). it wasnt till resently that my mom has let me listen to some of his songs like....(i cant think right now), but some of the more racy songs. i love all his movies, but i guess i would have to say that under the cherry moon is my favorite. well i just wanted every one to know that i think prince is the most outstanding artist, and i dont know what i would do without his music by my side. thanks mom for introducing me to wonderful Prince! i luv you mom! It's great to have people in your life who can enjoy the things you enjoy. My mother likes prince as well, but I got my love for the man from my father, who was a prince junkie. Though my father and I don't speak, I do thank him for the fact that he introduced me to the music of prince a looooong time ago.

[Edited 1/23/05 7:21am] well aren't u an inspiration to all the messsed up parents and children out there! outside of Graffiti bridge "under the cherry moon" is one of the worst movies i have ever seen. fans sometimes seem to forget that artists like prince and micheal jackson are only human and as such they will have flaws and make mistakes(Graffiti bridge). in order to truly accept the artists and appreciate their music we have to take them for who they are and not who we would like them to be.which in prince's case means his assless pants, crappy movies, make up, high heels and sometimes dissapointing cds "Americans consume the most fast food than any nation on Earth and the stupid motherfuckers wonder why they are so fat? Well, what can I say. I am the Mother of this wonderful child. It brings tears of joy to my eyes when I read the things that my daughter writes. It really makes me feel better about the mistakes I have made in raising her. We have difficult times I must say. I have always been a young mother and I often lack in patients. I am very sorry Britney for all of those hard moments when we cant talk or get along, but I want you to know that I love you more than anything in this world. you have made my life so full. I cant even begin to explain to you how much it means to me that you love this music and everything about it as much as me. Its like a bond that can never be broken. It has brought us so close and I know that we will always have adventures together. Wether it be going to paisley park together or trips all over seeking our fill of the mans music. I was always alone in my quest for this music and now to be able to share this with you is a dream come true. You are amazing Brit, and I want all of my prince friends to know it. I guess I need to thank Prince also for giving us this wonderful bond. I am so glad that he uses his God givin talent to affect so many in a positive way. I look forward Britney , to reading more of your posts. They move me.

Paisley Park319,
Just so you know you're not alone, I'm 16 and all my friends think that P is gay and I dont care. They're just being ignorant, that's ignorant. Just forget those morons cuz they dont know what good music is. And I think it's beautiful that the music brought you and your mom together. It usually tears me and my mom apart cuz we always argue over who gets to listen to what CD. LOL J/k. Doesn't it make you smile when you realize no one was there to see the stupid thing you just did?

Right on, Britney!
One of my co-workers who is 40-something told me she likes Prince, so I've been talking with her, but when she just recently found out he was married, she said, "Wow... and I always thought Prince was a flamboyant homosexual -- how can he be married?" And I was like... WHAT?!? So I understand what you go through with some of your friends as well. Not sure why people can't just dig the music for what it is -- some of the best music on this planet! Peace, and thanks for sharing.

I just want to say this is very encouraging for me. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and we listen to Prince together all the time. She asks to hear Prince every time we get in the car, and can even sing along a little bit with some songs. I hope this music can be a bond we'll share for life. It'd be nice to have something like that during those teenage years!

Having just started to live with my partner the subject of kids has been on my mind quite a bit. It's always a worry to think about the state the world is in and bringing a new life into it, but this is like the other side of the coin. This thread is one of the most positive things i've read in a long time.
Good on you, Britney, sounds like you're listening to your own voice, with some great guidance from your mother. If it means anything it seems to be the same all over the world- i was always ridiculed and picked on at school for liking Prince but what can you do? I think Prince's message has always been one of love, especially love for the world and everyone in it. You have your path so just follow it, ignore the people who make fun of you and they will find their own path too. Love and peace from Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. x "Prince don't hear Ravel when he wanna make love to his woman. He hears drums and shit." Miles Davis
