I honestly think that this is where the plastic sound came from. Digital production. I know Prince hits the analog board every now and then, but like he said, digital is much quicker and easier. A lot of vitality is lost in digital production, sounds aren't as alive, they're caught in the matrix.
I suggest prince does a short EP solely recorded on analog with live instruments and release it only on 12". Then a couple of month's later on CD if the need is waranted. I'm not saying digital production is at fault for everything becasue Prince made some great songs since the change, but sometimes it seems to take focus away from what Prince does best. This is just why some of his stuff sounds on plastic, cuz that is what it's SLAPPED on. Not ENGRAVED on like vinyl. This has mad me furklempt(sp?)....discuss amongst yourselves(in my best linda richman voice) | |
